Posting a lot of clothes to one buyer ?? best way suggestions

hi, a buyer has recently bought quite a few clothing items from me , some ver bulky eg jumpers, jackets etc ..

she said i couldstuff & crush them as much as i wanted & use a beer carton .. thing is i explained its not the packaging a/post

goes by the weight & dimensions of the package ..

i squashed them into a large satchel i recd from target just to have them weighed ..they came to just 5kgs with the post office mans finger supporting the bag ! :)) but they wont fit into a 5kg satchel ! .. i havent sent the invoice yet as she knows im trying my best

re the post for her, she is home with a spinal injury, but i would do the same for anyone ..

i did purchase a BX4 label online on the 9 may to beat the weight restrictions starting on the 13 .. but afrter calculating the post

she will be charged , or worse me, if they dont accept it , $125 , i am hesitant now to use that label on a box i have. i phoned a

p/office who told me 'oh yes thats what people do' when asked if i can use my own box but it wouldnt stand up in court  😞 ..

i have thought to possibly just try 2 x 5kgs satchels for them but dont have one to test ..they dont look all that big either ..

any thoughts appreciated ?

thanks

Could you perhads, buy a Vacuum Pac  ( quite cheap at Kmart , Bunnings etc ) and put as many as you can into it and that may help. i use them for storage and it's quite amazing how much you can fit into them and how small they are once the air has been removed.

Just a thought 😉

hi , my thoughts exactly today 🙂 ..which brand did you get ? i bought some online from tget then realised i have an upright vac !  😞 ... thanks

The B4 label is still available through ebay postage labels for $15.05 for 5 kg  for $15.05  (these labels are now only available through ebay labels not click and send)

If you buy the B4 box from the PO (I think it costs $3.35) that would be $18.40

So I think I would go with a B4 box and a satchel for anything that didn't fit in the box.

thanks, after checking the details the satchels will be better as there are no height restrictions as is with the boxes..i only bought the B4 label as the weight restriction was 15kg at the time , its now been changed in line with the satchels 😞 ..i wonder if a 10 or 8kg satchel is worth asking about from a/post esp for soft items.. thanks again.

hi, no youre right ! i havent wanted to use boxes before but when i did & noticed it wasnt in the drop down menu i asked ebay staff on chat on tuesday .. he told me a few staff had been asked about them & didnt know why they had never been avail in the drop down menu 8[ .. the drop down menu is confusing as it is anyway.. there should be a sep title for services & another for packaging..as you can see from yours the auspost packs are squished in amongst the service options ..i dont know how they can have 1-3 days for express either as express is only available for faster delivery in certain suburbs for each state otherwise they are sent regular delivery & for states like wa that can be 7-10 business days in some cases!

a very big oversight considering all the other non urgent changes theyve made recently.. for using the box i selected a/post regular with tracking .. which is redundant also as all parcels now have tracking .. thanks 🙂

:)) the lollies can go to charity .. perhaps a/post as they are crying after a yearly loss in the millions ! :)))

this is the website link showing both options ebay satchels & a/post -

http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/packaging.html?ilink=hfo-packaging

on the prepaid satchels page click the link on the left for ebay satchels .. dont expect the website to have helpful info though..its hard to find it !

i buy them from the auspost ID ebay store but they dont have the 5kg satchels ..i asked last week & they said they dont have a demand for them ..  😞 .. & the first time they were avail to buy on the a/post website i think on wed they sold out !

i bought some yesterday >< they get here before the woman pays for the rest of her clothes .. cheers 🙂

the best you can do is package them in satchels I guess and charge her for as many as it takes

but seriously, a Bx4 box for $125? i thought they were flat rate about $16? or diod we lose the Bx4 flat rate> regardless,  $1265 for 5kg seems like a lot?

Have a look at the ebay labels - we get discount through there

or what avbout a courier/

i just got a 18kg huge wooden thing and two other things too, from Melb to Qld for $70

hi, thanks.. sorry i didnt explain very well..late night brain fuzz 8{ ..its not the weight its the bulk of the items. the jacket doesnt
weigh much but it is long & bulky as is parka.

i paid for the B4 label from ebay labelling, only on 9 may ,not the box, as i saw mentioned on the a/post website the weight allowance before the changes on the 13 may were 15kgs for all box sizes!  i had phoned an a/post branch & the woman there told me i could use any box i had as long as i attached the B4 label. still i had my doubts if it got down to her word against mine.

the box i have i was going to cutdown to fit the clothes..i then used the a/post calculator re my box's meas & the cost by surface mail for it was $125. it was my concern if they did not accept the B4 label on my own box then they would use this calculation to charge me for it.

i guess i am worrying too much about the cost of post but just trying to keep it as low as i can as they will need about 3 5kg satchels as they are.

i was thinking of opening a post for people to sign to send to a/post requesting a 10k satchel for bulky soft items.

i heard today they are bringing in a 1kg satchel that will be great.

thanks for your help with this . 🙂

Wrong. If you have a label for a 15kg B4 box you can use it. On a B4 box. If your label states 5kg, you can use it. On a B4 box. Not on any other box. That is an explicit term of the contract. But if the label is for this particular buyer there should be no reason why you can't use it on a B4 box to this particular buyer.

It's like prepaid postage methods - they are sent regardless of what you paid.

That label won't be any good to you now, because it is not when you purchase the label, but when you lodge it - but you can email click and send and get a refund.

hi, thanks.. they are lodged when the label is printed ..though i know what you mean as  its a box it needs to be lodged at the counter.. as i bought it on the ebay site ..ive just cancelled it  to get the refund ..thank you very much for taking the time to tell me this it would have saved me all that money if i hadnt known.. its very good of you ! 🙂

btw she has yet to pay the invoice i sent with the $16 charge for the 5kg satchel.. hoping she is just waiting for me :). hate using that word 'she' but we arent allowed to use peoples names.. maybe i will makeup a name .. thanks again . 🙂

Here. See if this chart makes it any easier to work out the postage costs. It does my head in trying to work out postage so l made up the chart that is easy to glance at.

The rates for C&S's section will change if you apply for their Business 250 Discount but you'll have to apply for it, use their branded satchels (not the eBay ones) and you need an ABN.

The eBay label prices show in brackets, the purchase price of the satchel. This can be gotten a little cheaper if you purchase your satchels in bulk.

The C&S site dosen't have B4 flat rate boxes anymore.

Hope that helps a little. It's changing times that we live in!!!

how clever are you ! .. it would have done my head in creating this .. i tend to be a little ocd re spacing & lining things up properly :)) .. thanks so much i will save this .. though given they increased the prices only last year & are crying over a few million in lossed , what do you think are the chances of another increase in 6 mths ??  8{
not sure if the ebay adding of post costs to my invoice are helpful or not .. i think i prefer to pay as i go as i tend to spend paypal money :))

thanks 🙂
