Just made Power Seller - WOOOHOOOO Um NOT!!
Not only did I not get a choice in this but it actually has no benefit at all! Without us sellers there would be no Ebay so why would Ebay not reward us for becoming what they deem as a 'Power Seller'??
Fees charged from Ebay, Paypal, to have a store - fees everywhere, keep listing but nothing in return, cant even leave negative feedback for a non paying auction/item winner, why why why?
Ebay why do you not reward those who are expected to keep up to your standards???
I dont want to be a Power Seller, Im just a casual seller, selling items donated from friends & family, I am a perfectionist with listings ie: descriptions, photos etc and for this I get penalised!
Not happy and want Ebay to leave me as I was, not MAKE me become what they want!
Im sure if I took this further it would be recognised as not legal, not even given a choice or be advised of this change to my status is totally unfair & not right!

I understand you're obviously upset because now, and until you lose PS status, you're going to be charged for listing (if you decide to continue listing), but of course it's legal. Just like it's legal for other places to give members free trial periods, introductory offers and so on that end after a certain amount of time or uses. The only difference is, on eBay you're in complete control over when or if it ends on any given ID, and you can use multiple IDs to take advantage of the benefits.
I don't think eBay should have retained the name Power Seller to denote someone who has exceeded the selling limits that disqualify them from free listings, but you can't say eBay "made" you list and sell at least 100 items for at least US$3k - which is all it takes to reach PS - you chose to do that, and the information about PS level, free listing etc etc etc is all here onsite.
