How is it that some sellers can have the quantity sold on there listings showing in the 100's but only be listing say 10 at a time? Seems for us when we relist an item after it sells out the quantity sold disappears and we start again. The watchers appear to stay 'watched' so why doesnt the sold quantity stay there as well to show our product is popular?

As above, basically the listing has to not sell out or end in order for a running tally of the sales to continue. I never list more than I have in stock, but I have some listings over a year old that shows how many I've sold since they were created because they've never ended - when I reach a certain level of stock, I re-order so that I can (hopefully) update the quantity before the stock I have left runs out. Some items I only have a couple of made available at any given time, but when one sells I make another and update the quantity to hopefully keep the listing perpetually active, the tally showing isn't of any great concern to me, but the sales history itself (which helps in Best Match rankings) is what I'm trying not to lose.
BTW, I lose watchers as well if an item ends and is relisted.

Ok interesting information, are you sure it only represents the last 90 days though? I've seen a few competitors listings that couldnt possibly have the number of sales in 90 days that it says, i figured it was more likely 2 years worth

It is not only the last 90 days - it will show the total sales made since the listing was started.

I think if you click on the quantity sold to show the purchase history, it will show up to the last 100 sales in the last 90 days.

DG - if there are more than a hundred sales it only shows a hundred but that is not restricted to the last 90 days. If it has taken 2 years to reach 100 sales it will still show the sales and the dates up to the 2 years ago.
Just out of curiousity I clicked on a random item for sale and the last sale was back in May 2011. I think I would have donated that item to charity by now...LOL

I have to admit I'm not as diligent in listing upkeep now as I was when I was paying insertion fees on every listing, I might have a few donation-worthy things myself
But that's weird, as my sales history shown in listings definitely has a cut-off point. One of mine has 4 sales, but it will only show one in the purchase history (From February 14th) and all the rest were before then. I wonder if there's something specific that determines how much history they show?

The couple I looked at both had the Best Offer feature on them...I wonder whether that makes a difference to how long the history shows.
