Refund, so why we need to do mutual cancel request?

Seems eBay hopes that those who do not know (or don't know they can) don't open mutual cancelation requests.

It seems pretty logical though - if you refund a buyer than surely you should receive your FVFs back rather than going through upto 7 days wait. Why would a buyer cancel this request other to be vindictive.

Food for thought.

Another one - buyer did a chargeback within 24 hours (I refunded them as I had not sent out item). Called eBay, to get FVFs back - what did they tell me? Open either a cancel request or an UID (ummm what? As if I would accept payment again from someone how initiates chargebacks)

Just some examples I think are silly

it also shows as refunded if it is a forced refund via a paypal dispute.

hence the original transaction did occur and fees are due.
