I have been a regular seller on e-bay since 2000 (yep 13 years) and I have never seen sales so critically low. The lack of sales combined with the increase in e-bay fees / paypal fees etc looks like after all these years time to finish up with with ebay and back to selling at the local weekend markets.

Well I just reopened my shop, no sales yet in the last ten days... my 40 listings yielded one or two sales for the whole month. When they put up their fees earlier, I closed my shop... lost my powerseller status and top rated badge and its never been the same since. I will never again be as good as a year ago when I had to take bags of parcels to the post office each week... not bad for a hobby seller. Now, I think I am a goner. I am in credit atm so will see how it pans out..but maybe its a bit early for buyers to find me again.

Good luck Beanie, I hope you do well. I'm sure many sellers are still hoping things improve & are doing their very best to make that happen.
Holding a seller to ransom for their views on other sites is not what ebay is all about but unfortunately some on here stop at nothing to harm others.
I am not a seller but I am appalled by the threat I recieved. I remember the sickening attacks on the chocolate seller whipped up by social media to drive them out of business.
Seems like that type of behaviour has infected even the most benign of sites.

what happened in your case SF ?

.
It's all ebay isn't it ? All visible on ebay's site .I ,as a buyer have said what is influencing my not buying (same as a large b&m store who recently made an apology to disabled people..many vowing not to support that store with their custom .The effect however was aknowledged and an apology made). Some people are getting fussy and more particular where they spend their money .
also we are constantly being told how tire the situation in this Country is and the need to stop spending .That message constantly being told could perhaps discourage spending .
I would think that the boards are meant to be enticement rather than the opposite .If you respect a customers (or potential customer) opinion ...you were just given it

I used the recent NDIS comment from a representative of a major B&M store as an example.
I think people like to shop where they feel welcome and treated as equals ..no matter what gender, ability, religion, race, the way they vote etc etc. It's just PR isn't it ?

your comments do not relate to the op & your veiled threat was frightening. None of this is appropriate to this thread no matter how you spin it.

This is what has happened but not a peep out of ebay.
They try to blame the sellers first, when that fails they blame hackers, but something has happened to ebay.
A good viable business with 100% pos f/back preferred seller status & the whole thing collapsed after 10 years.
What's going on???
I have given my opinion as a buyer

You brought your political bias & hostility to me on here & asked me if I was a seller then proceeded to threaten me in a manner that I found frightening & alarming.
That's what you did, with no provocation from me, I was just commenting on this thread & giving an opinion.
You had no right to even bring this type of comment on here, it is entirely inappropriate & an apology to the op should be forthcoming, I don't expect one from you & doubt it would be sincere anyway.

OP, I agree with what many others have said..mostly that it is a difficult time at the moment .Many people may be more cautious about their spending .Perhaps that being the case more needs to be done to entice buyers ...but what ?
I haven't bought here for months for reasons I have already mentioned.

Polocross I think you have hit the nail on the head. A lot of the younger generation are now (thank goodness) going back to buying secondhand furniture etc from days gone by merely for the quality and because it lasts!! Have a look at a lot of the Real Living, House and Garden type magazines.......older furniture is very much in vogue as it makes common sense to have items that are made to last, not this Asian carp....... I think we are going to do a big turn around with what we buy and am hoping that the buying of carp poorly made Asian stuff is on its way out.........I do however think that tech stuff will still be thrown away and replaced often as the young generations like to have the latest innovations.
The finance guy on the Today show hit the nail on the head the other day (cant remember his name).......by saying that in Australia we want the big wages but buy the cheap imports......it is going to be the downfall of this country. Common sense will tell you that this going to work.....I am worried about Australias future and I know most of my family and friends are, and like you said none of us are spending, we are saving....just in case and yes we all realise we have too much "stuff"........................especially the Asian imported carp.
