Seller flooding collectibles with an incorrectly categorised item

This seller;is breaking the Ebay listing rules by consistantly listing multiple items (lighting) under Collectibles which BY FLOODING THIS CATEGPORY, causes a great deal of time wastage to buyers who ar genuinely searching for Collectibles and undoubtedly causing problems for genuine sellers by these actions. I have yet to hear of someone "collecting" a new light fitting and this seller knows they are doing the srong thing. If we all did this type of thing Ebay would be in a shambles. So, Collectibles sellers and anone else interested please report this seller otherwise they will continue to flood this category thereby lowering the genuine seller's chances of selling, and making prospective byers lose patience after scrolling through hundreds of non applicable items and giving up. Last time I checked, this seller had listed in running order, 47 pages at 50 iterms per page, obviously to flood others out and draw attention to their items, that has worked but not in the way they anticipated

Seller flooding collectibles with an incorrectly categorised item

I sell under collectables and most of my items are brand new, there is not always a catergory for the type of items people sell and from experience just because its new does not mean that it is not collectable, everybody collects something i have realised  🙂

One thing I never do is give up.

I will wait and see if Ebay reprimands me for mentiioning an ID, then I will comply, after all Ebay must know to whom I'm referring otherwise the report is useless and actually this report is technically classed as "feedback" which Ebay encourages, ID's and all. Let me ask you this....would you turn a blind eye if you were a seller and someone was trying to block out your items by flooding a category with numerous listings, which are obviously, to all who can see, in the incorrect category? I doubt it.

I had reported this issue previously to Ebay but not on this board.  BTW  I am not presently a seller therefore do not have a vested interest in the fformer sellers activities, only in letting timewasters, which the latter are, and my time is valuable, be reminded of the applicable and correct categories.

Our seemingly untouchable seller with shill bidders (who incidentally, seems to have created some new accounts by the looks of it) has her Nepalese paintings listed under Aboriginal paintings. Of course, no amount of reporting that to eBay has done any good. They don't want to know. I guess they don't care because people buy the stuff and they get their cut.

Funny how they can quickly remove the items of small sellers for being listed in the wrong category. I wonder what one has to do to become one of the untouchables!

I'll wait for Ebay to inform me whether it's correct or not as it coud be construed as a grey area to some people. If you care to check the abovementioned listing you will find that over 20 pages of new ceiling light fitting listings at 50 items per page, ( last time it was 47 pages) pages. If you can EVER  point out to me that many consecutive listings of a new product in a collectibles category I will hold my peace or report them as well, whichever is applicable.

I guess in their defence, the category under Collectables is Homeware > Lighting, so I'm not sure they're actually under the wrong category. It's surprising what is actually listed under collectables. Most of us see a collectable as something that people collect, but there's all sorts of strange sub categories in there.

What are you on about?

Question was -" Is the seller's username the one you placed in brackets ? I guess probably not, because ebay removes usernames mentioned in posts since we are not permitted to 'name and shame'. I tried searching for them but got the message that the username was incorrect".

My answer was / is - "It's correct alright."

The only thing i'll EVER point out to you is "your in breach of policy for naming the member".Smiley Sad

The seller has about 6000 listings with the word lighting in the title. The majority that I checked are only under one category in the home and garden section.

The listings which are in two categories - home and garden and collectables - appear to the lighting accessories such as flourescent tubes. I presume they listed them in the collectables category as collectable light fittings would also need replacement globes etc.

The free listing policy of ebay is the scurge of most buyers.

ebay do not monitor these boards,  Lithium do, and it is their moderators who remove inappropriate posts /  IDs etc.

these boards are member to member boards, not for ''feedback''
