If eBay or Paypal reimbursed the buyer from their own money, instead of the seller's, there is a fair (probably 100%) chance the seller was in the right.
Besides, its the principle not the money.
Unless, of course, you are prepared to bend over and take it for the sake of avoiding a red dot. While still getting a defect which has the same impact.
