I find it extremely frustrating that as a seller, I can not leave an inconsiderate buyer the negative feedback they deserve. In the last 3 weeks, I have had two buyers who have won items with me, made arrangements for pick up Then not showed at the arranged time. They havent contacted me to cancel or reschedule or to say they've just changed there minds. I feel that this definitely warrant negative feedback. I would want to know from other sellers if a buyer has history of this kind of thing. This is very frustrating yet I cant give them anything yet they can leave me negative feedback in spite of my negative comments? Not fair Ebay! Time to change the rules!!

I suppose if a buyer expects a football related item to be made in Australia, and it isn't, they might be a tad upset.
You and I may well know that virtually no sports apparel is made here anymore, but that doesn't mean, the average buyer does.
Perhaps make a note in your listings. "This item is made in China because there is nobody in Australia who will make them."

Sorry, I thought you were talking about Collingwood.
Whatever, the point is still the same.

Miss-alissa
your choice to vote for is confusing. the 2 options imply the same to me perhaps you should change the wording of option one to :
1) Sellers should not be able to leave Neg Feedback
2) seller must be able to leave Neg feedback
I think that 100% of sellers would agree to be able to leave Neg/fb
But were unsure of your wording. and that is how you ended up with 33% pro

Very old thread marianne - doubt miss-alissa will be back, and most likely didn't mean to post a poll anyway ๐

marianne, I'm not wanting to keep an old thread going . . . . . but your thinking is wrong!
There may well be a lot of sellers wanting the ability to leave negative feedback BUT it is NOT 100%.
As far as the poll goes . . . less than 20 members voted . . . not statistically valid poll results either way.
Start a new thread about sellers being able to leave negative feedback . . . on second thoughts, DON'T, the topic gets dragged up too much already.
Please look at the date of the opening post next time.

It's good that bad sellers can't neg buyers any more. However, it does make the whole practice of leaving feedback for buyers rather pointless, if it can only be 'nice'. It's completely meaningless, all it indicates is that a transaction was completed.
It would make more sense if sellers had to tick either 'Payment received' or 'Payment not received' for buyers, because that is effectively ALL THAT MATTERS in a transaction. Either that, or nothing.

If negative buyer feedback (or just a big $ symbol with the ebay designated feedback NON PAYING BIDDER) was linked to a successful UID (unpaid item dispute) then most sellers THAT DO LEAVE NEGATIVE POSITIVES NOW would more likely not leave a positive feedback star with a negative comment.
I am sure they would follow the leader and be happy with "the mark" instead
.... then the buyer feedback searching sellers could search and the UID blocker sellers could block.
Both vetting systems would work better because the feedback is linked to the strike.
...... Obviously ebay does not want the system to actually ...... "work"...... they just want to continue the charade that leads new/naive sellers to believe that it does.
Advertisements make ebay profit.... not specific sales.
For sellers advertisements cost money and do not gaurantee a sale. Profit can only come through sales.

Do you realise that this thread is 5 years old. Many of the posters then are no longer around to see your post.
It has been proven that negs for buyers serve little purpose. MAke sure you have all blocks in place and open unpaid item disputes for any that pop up.

this thread is sooooooooo old that when I went to give one of the posts a kudo I realised that it was from an ID I used before I started to use this one for posting! Needless to say I haven't given the kudo.
Recently, there have been a lot of threads popping up that were started years ago.
Hopefully, one day, someone from eBay/lithium will see that it makes sense to lock old threads. Leave them on the boards to be read, but let them be searchable but not live . . . . . . . and encourage new threads to be started.
