Hi all,
My selling privileges were restricted yesterday because of the new ebay ratings. My DSR was very good but i had several cancelled transactions because of an item that i ran out of stock.
I know that i should not have something listed that i did not have avaialble however this was only for a short period (7 days). Most of the buyers were happy to wait for this dvd but there were some that wanted it cancelled and refunded. Now i feel like i should not have communicated to these buyers as i would not be in the position i am in right now. But yes, i advised all these buyers that i ran out of this title and i would have it within 7 days but i am happy to refund it if required.
I have never used the ebay inventory manager tool as i have my own system that i pay a subscription for to manage my stock levels and ordering.
I contacted Ebay customer service yesterday and was advised from their call centre in the Phillipines that this decision was final and irreversable. I argued that i was a loyal ebay customer for 10 plus years. Had paid all my fees (approx $500.00 per month) on time without delay, had feedback of >99% and my DSR's were of a high standard. I also mentioned that my rating changed on 20/08/14 and that i had 20 days to try and fix this before my account was suspended. Their response to this was "we understand but the decision is final". I then asked to be transferred to comeone who was based in Australia and who had the authority to do something about this. The response was that they support the Australian opertations and there was no one else i could contact.
I have sent an email via Ebay last night in the hope that it would get escalated somewhere but the call centre i spoke with.
Has anyone else been in this position and if so who did you contact and what was the outome?
Help and assistance needed please?
Regards
John (In2 DVD)

Don't you hate the posters on the boards who play the age card, or the pensioner card or the computer illiterate card or any other "sympathy" card that you care to mention.
I am generally just narky enough to tell them it will not get them any sympathy and has no bearing on their problem.

There is a new search option 'pick up in store' (under completed listings & sold).
Another pointer favouring big existing retail stores.

That's all kinds of wrong for me.
Where's the convenience of shopping on-line
if I still have to go out and get it?

I have no idea why she had to throw the guilt trip in there. It served no purpose and it took every ounce of strength I had not to let her have it. The only thing that stopped me was it would guarantee me a red dot (which I'll probably get anyway).
If her life is so hard on a carers pension, maybe she should stop splurging on eBay!!!

Very good in fact 🙂
I have been reading up and it's fairly easy to setup and not get noticed. The unfortunate thing is that some sellers do this to defraud whilst others have been forced into it because of ebays silly algorithm.
i had the same issue with a buyer from the UK recently who did not read the description, she was a pensioner as well..
Anyway, i have given my robot friend until Tuesday evening (48hours) to reactivate my account before i approach the media. Even then, i don't expect anything to be done.

"The cases opened, some of the buyers said they didn't mean to open a case, they did it by accident,.."
You may want to have a look at this - though you need to be a quick reader. Have a look particularly at the last page 'Dishonesty'.

I had a buyer recently leave me neutral feedback for a car set that he never purchased from me. he even stated "all good with the car seat" implying that the neutral was a mistake.

Took me a long time to read through all of this - very interesting stuff.
I'm not an active seller but I do take an interest in eBay's injustice system. I've sold a few things recently and even that was a pain.
Here's my thoughts. These are only suggestions and by no means represents any action taken by me, or recommended to any other parties.
a) make their system work against them. Set up some buyer accounts, buy low cost **bleep** from china with postage included etc. When it's marked posted, leave bad feedback and open up disputes etc. Flog the **bleep** out of the system and start getting those seller accounts shutdown. Let them take on eBay and eBay can then determine if their system is working or not.
b) start a cooperative selling platform of your own. Run it along side your eBay business for starters and ditch eBay later on. It sounds like you all know each other well enough and probably know more again. A lot of work, true. But look at gumtree .. it was **bleep** in the beginning, and still is in my book (eBay is no better .. bad interfacing, bad systems, bad support, bad policies etc) but it had humble beginnings. This does interest me from a tech point of view.
eBay is a classic example of a system that has been patched and upgraded over the years to where it is now. A fkn huge mess. It is, without a doubt, DATED. Imagine a retail store (chain or local) that had systems like this.
Anyway .. it's an interesting fight. I hope some good comes out of it.
