Hi Guys,
I recently decided to sell a few unwanted DVDs. I was waiting for a $170 payment from a buyer through direct transfer to my bank as she said she couldnt get into paypal.
I recieved an email Sunday with the title confirmation of payment so I just assumed that meant she paid then the next day I posted the item. I have since noticed this was not a reciept for payment just her advising she would transfer the funds. It is now thursday and I have not recieved the funds nor has she responded to me.
So is it safe to assume I have sent this lady a gift and wont be getting my payment?

No, seriously. There are ways if it comes to it. But firstly pull her phone number, call and explain it accidentally went out before payment and could she please make payment before xxxxxx such a date.
Go to advanced search, find member contact in the left margin. You will be emailed her details and she gets yours.
She may be a nice person, if not we'll fix her. ๐

I find for the most part buyers are honest. As a seller I wouldn't get to worried about it just yet.
For instance the customer may have gone through the checkout and written down the bank details and waited until tuesday or wednesday to go to the bank and pay. They could have run out of money and needed a little more time to pay, which is slightly embarrassing, hense no response to emails.
You could check and confirm all their details in the meantime to give some reassurance.

Yes I'd give him/her a chance, it is early days yet. And do follow the advice above and contact the buyer.
However having said that, in my experience as a seller, the most often times payment not received are from buyers saying they will pay via direct deposit.
And I have a couple of times inadvertently sent out items before payment made, but have always received payment in the end.

Actually I WOULDN'T phone them as a first step, pull their details or let on to them that the item has been sent inadvertently - I would just send them a message noting that payment hadn't been received and that you look forward to receiving payment - WITHOUT any reference to the fact that the item has been sent already.
If the item hasn't arrived yet and if the buyer is one of those rare people with a streak of genuine dishonesty they'll just go yippee no need to pay I have the goods.
(If they then pay and the item turns up tomorrow you should also then get fabulous feedback for the fast service!)
If the item has already turned up they'll obviously know that you have stuffed up (no need to tell them that) and you are now relying on their honesty! The email will just act as a prompt (without making you look silly and without seeming panicky or applying pressure).
Not sure that calling them will help ...

Did you post them registered so you can at least see if they were delivered or she can just say they have not arrived.

If the parcel has tracking and has not been delivered as yet, I believe it is possible to stop it (foe a charge). Pity you left it so long.
