Hi guys

A customer has bought an item, but i received a message from him 3 days later (today) that he "accidently" misclicked on the purchase button. I am a relatively new seller, so i am not sure what to do.

Any help please?

Much appreciated

Thanks

and dewdrop, that shoe paper thing is crazy, hopefully sellers do as I do, and actually read the comments in reply to negs and neutrals. if I read that, id think bad buyer, not seller.

Magpie, if your buyer does give you bad feedback, make sure you put her user ID in a reply. e.g "<user ID> wanted item posted before payment was cleared". That way everyone can see who she is. Otherwise, it's only you who can see her ID.

Don't post it till the e-cheque clears! If she wants to cancel I'd do that because you'll only end up with grief if you don't. I'm not sure on the best way to go about it. If the new way for customers to request a cancellation has come in, I'd tell them to go about it that way. You can cancel the e-cheque from your end but you'd still be left with the selling fees and would either have to do some sort of cancellation or non-payment notice. I'm not sure you can do a non-payment notice because they've already paid, but if you request a cancellation (IF you can!) and they don't agree you may not get your fees back.

e-cheques will fail if there's not enough funds in the account to cover them, so all she needs to do is clear all the money from that account and it'll automatically fail (same as cancelling it). This would be best for you because then you could issue a non-payer notice to get your fees back.

I rarely get e-cheques but I got one today - buyer bought one item, paid by e-cheque, bought two more items, paid next e-cheque. I always deduct the fees from the excess postage amount before I refund, and same with the extra 30c paypal fees on each payment. I state very clearly that my combined rates only apply if they wait for an invoice for combined/multiple items. Sorry, off topic.

i told her a rang ebay and they said id get a "thing' on my name if i cancel after its paid, and i cant afford that!!

hmm, it gets better:

understand your position. Unfortunately my mother-in-law in the UK is dying and my husband and I need to fly to England asap. My husband is leaving tomorrow and I will follow on Saturday after making arrangements for the house, dog, etc hence the reason for wanting the bag asap to take with me. I found I could not cancel the PayPal payment from my end but have rearranged my bank accounts so it may not go through anyway even though showing in PayPal. Will see what happens but if it does actually clear you can send the bag and I will have a neighbour take care of it pending my return from overseas. Sorry about the mess. I usually use a credit card but mine was recently stolen and I am awaiting a new one to put on PayPal. I thought an echeque would clear quickly silly me !

poor thing is having a bad trot!!

Well I recently had a 15mo actually PAY for an item .... the Mum contacted me and apologised ... saying that she was waiting for a couple more items to end (for bulk postage) and was waiting for the last one to end ..... but her little one was playing with her iPhone and actually PAID for just one item.

I know it's unbelievable, but it seems to actually happen .... (my young grandson used to put things he wanted his Mum to buy him on the 'watch list' ... he was a little older .... probably 2 or 3.)

Hopefully she doesn't trash your feedback, especially as the 10 cancelled transactions she left positive (some buyers will still trash feedback even when they request to cancel!).

If you look under her feedback as a buyer tab, she's had 5 bid retractions in the last 12 months. Seems she can't make her mind up!

Did you get a reply back from that other seller? I'd be curious to know her reasons too. Clothing, all bought on Jan 19.

so she said she had already cleared her account!

i said hang on, what about all the ones you said were posting to you before their cheques cleared? (she told me others had no problem with it, and she had other items on the way) ive kept all the messages.

told her no one likes a scammer, and id reported all the messages (and i did)

yeah yeah shouldnt have warned her, but couldnt help myself!!

the other seller said she bought stuff then had medical appointments, (i got the im on a pension line too) and then came back and changed the sizes, and then said she had a diagnosis and couldnt pay.

call me skeptical, but gees buying on ebay sure is lethal to relos, and your health. id love a dollar for everytime ive had that excuse. makes it hard for those in genuine need.

and yes ive blocked her.

as for my feedback, once i put the non payer through, it will be removed, and if not, ill wear it as she is the scum of the earth, and people need to know it,

cheers
