Sorry, yet another question about these ebay extra small satchels.

Hello all you good people ๐Ÿ™‚

Please bear with me here. I apologise as I normally use prepaid Aus Post satchels, so I am somewhat confused.

I purchased $60 worth of these satchels as I assumed that anything which would fit in these would qualify for the ebay postage labels priced at $8.55. all over Australia.

Last week, I sold a small item which was about 5 cms thick, and when I went to purchase a label, it came up at $10.50. There was a box above, asking me to measure the item.

So, I decided to skip this and just posted it in a small prepaid satchel, because I couldnโ€™t be bothered messing around.

So my question is as follows, is there a maximum thickness which you can put in these satchels, does anyone know.

As far as I can see, nothing is mentioned on the package.

I, perhaps wrongly assumed that it would be treated in the same way as a small satchel, eg you can pack anything in so long as it is not in excess of 5kg.

I know that some of these satchels are marked as 250 gms, but that is basically a mistake.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

I donโ€™t think Netsuke would survive an xs packageโ€ฆjust my opinion

Look how much extra packaging you can put into a satchel.

I would report that to Australia Post so your post office can get sorted out.   It is definitely wrong information.

With the best will in the world, counter staff often have no idea whatโ€™s going on (though Managers obviously should.)

I struck a new counter person the other week; they refused to lodge my pre-paid letters with tracking, because I had removed the back tear-off (โ€œsender to keepโ€) which I was presenting for hand date franking. They said they had to remove the completed tear-off themselves so they could check that the address on the front of the envelope was the same. I didnโ€™t bother arguing with them; I just stood aside and waited until one of the regular staff was available. Fortunately they only seemed to be filling-in for that day.
