Store Sale help

Hey

I have tried asking the chat line on here but they never seem to undersatnd what i am asking so thought i might try here.

I just upgraded from a basic account yesterday to a "Basic Store".  I was thinking of creating a sale but just wanted to clear a few things up first.

1. Can i end a sale earlier than i originally did it for.  So i was going to run the sale until 24/12.  If i decide on the 30/11 that i want to end the sale and go back to original prices, can i do that?

2.  I also read about if you revise an item it is then removed from the sale....i am right in understanding this.  So for exampe if i list an item in a sale and then go and revise the quantity a few days later...is it then going to revert to original prices?

3. And if this happens can you re-add it to the sale?

4. if i start a sale today for example...then add more items over the next week....can i add these items to that same sale? Or do i have to create a new one?

thanks for your help in advance

Re: Store Sale help

I can answer most of those - some I may go and double-check after I post then make corrections, where necessary... Smiley LOL

I'm pretty sure that you can edit a sale, so theoretcially that should mean you can add / remove items, change the duration and so forth (which would mean you can make it end earlier, even if there's not a specific 'end now' type of option), but I've never tested any of that .

You can revise listings that are included in the sale, but it won't necessarily remove the item from the sale - it depends on what's changed. eg changing price, postage cost and/or services, will remove an item from a sale, but just updating the description and quantity won't.

A listing has to be active for at least 7 days before you can add it to a sale, so new listings can't be added until a week later, and a revision that removes a listing from a sale will re-set the 7 day requirement (so you have to wait a week before it can be added back in).

Changing the quantity shouldnโ€™t remove the item from the sale but occasionally if a glitch occurs it does.

3. And if this happens can you re-add it to the sale? โ€“ No.

4. if i start a sale today for example...then add more items over the next week....can i add these items to that same sale? Or do i have to create a new one?     You canโ€™t add items to an existing sale. You would need to create a new sale. Items must be listed for a minimum of 7 days at the same price before they can be added to a sale.

Hope that helps

Do you know what options there are when you edit a sale? (I've run a few here and there, but I've never edited them or had a look after they were created. Smiley Embarassed )

Technically, you could end a sale if you adjusted the price or postage on everything that was included, so I'm surprised eBay don't just provide the option for it.

Re: Store Sale help

DG - I was actually a little inaccurate with that first answer. Technically you can't just end a sale but you can remove listings from a sale so if you removed all the listings which were on sale that would effectively end the sale.

Once a sale is started that is the only thing you can edit.
