Strategies To Combat Aus Post 3 Day Letter Post Parcel delivery in January

I hope this subject has not been flogged to death here but was wanting to hear from other sellers on how they will cope with the Aus Post 3 day letter post delivery which is starting in january I believe. Nearly all my parcels are letter post and I cannot afford to pay for there one day service on my items that are free postage, maybe another kick in the guts for small sellers I would say.............

I think it's just another good way for ebay to get rid of smaller sellers who are not wanted here, they must be jumping for joy.

I don't see how we can posably keep a good DSR score with these changes, everyone wants there parcels in a hurry in this mad world and they will not care about the Aus post changes they will blame us sellers for late delivery ...................

does anyone know the extra cost of prority post for letter rate. I only sell greeting cards and have to charge $2.00 now, as i use like dvd boxes 16mm high. Retirement might be in the air. I have 5 days handling, and have no problems with sales.

Priority is an extra 50c per letter, with likely no discount for bulk purchase (going by the fact that business accounts can get a 5% discount on stamp prices, but will pay the full 50c for priority. I also asked at the PO if there might be a discount, but they said unlikely, same as how there's no discount when you buy stamps in bulk).

I decided when this was first announced that I am only going to quote for and use priority - mostly because of eBay, their requirements, the lack of trust I have in them being able to communicate realistic expectations in the places they decide to do it on my behalf....etc etc.

To try and counter-act the increase in cost (minimum $1.10 per letter, across the board), I'll be doing a couple of things - the first is to make my items higher/better value wherever possible. At the moment, I have a lot of things that are around the $3.00 mark, I'll still list those items, but instead of X amount for $3.00, I'll do Y amount for $5.00 so that postage can remain a lower percentage of the total cost and I can try as much as possible to maintain the same kind of value people get now.

I'm also looking to start stocking more parcel rate items, I feel like re-introducing those will make a transition to parcels easier if it comes to that, plus it will highlight the - still - lower letter cost, and may sometimes make things more manageable if people buy a combo of items, because I will retain my flat rate postage rules for the time being.

How it's going to affect the appeal of my items and overall sales remains to be seen. o_o

Unless buyers do feedback as soon as an item arrives they will often be guessing based on perception. Perception plays no part in what is listed on the listing or given estimates. To them it will be did it feel like it arrived quick or not.?, which will also be tainted with did you like it or not? did it fit or not?..ie buyers mood rather than any real facts.

With all the hussle and bustle of xmas leaving feedback is not going to be top of their list of things to do.

There is insufficient evidence to even justify this system of defecting sellers to even be implemented. Even tracking is often only partial.

The Chinese sellers must be rubbing there hands at this madness as most goods from china is free post and the quality of there goods is improving by the day. I think people will think gee free post and a much cheaper item, they might as well wait for there goods from there if Aus post is going to be deliveing only once every 3 days, it's really insane thinking to me

They'll still be making letter deliveries 5 days a week, it's just that if you use the non-priority service, they'll take 2 days longer than they do now (on average, and according to AP), while paying the extra 50c for priority will should mean they arrive in the same time they do now.
