Suspended for ending a listing?

I listed a product but then I immediately decided to cancel it to learn more about the product and get a better idea of how much to sell it for (cancelled within 2 minutes of listing). I was then immediately notified that my account had been suspended :S 

Does ending a listing violate eBay's policies?

All good, ban was lifted. All they wanted was proof of identity. I asked other ebay sellers if the same thing has happened to them and they said no. I wonder why they wanted proof. Meh, oh well.

Most of us have had to provide proof of identity to paypal at some stage.  Maybe that has been extended to ebay now.
