Thought the rush of Xmas sales would be over with only 5 business days until Xmas - Was about to clean up all my stock and sit back and relax - Oh!!! No 5 sales this afternoon - Hope Australia Post can delivery - will post them first thing Monday.
Funny would have a sale and then start my scheduled clean up - Katching ! back to packing - feel like a yo yo today.
Hope other sellers are experiencing a little rush !!!

I was expecting a quiet weekend, too, but while I haven't been inundated or anything, I've had more sales than I would have thought. Not many of them would be gifts in the traditional sense, but some could be intended to that, I'm sure.
I suspect some people don't factor weekends (or fluctuating delivery times) into it when they look at the date and think "Christmas is only 8 days away... "
No one has paid for express, though, so they can't be that urgent.

I would imagine a lot of people are thinking they have a week so if they buy now (it is only Saturday) they should be right.
Personally, I would be wary if I wanted something from interstate, especially eg Qld or WA (I am in Vic) but I would expect something from closer in to arrive. Not that I would count on it though.
Most of the big sales sites such as Catch of the day, kathmandu, vistaprint etc are pretty well still saying they are taking last calls for Xmas items. So maybe it sets up expectations in the minds of some buyers.
Aust post & the couriers are doing a pretty top job at the moment actually, I think they must be doing extra shifts, things are arriving very quickly.

I think as long as parcels aren't going via Chullora, then deliveries should be quick. Chullora is having big BIG issues at the moment with backlog. Some things are taking 2 weeks to get out of there, some things are still stuck on the roundabout after several weeks.
Previous years I've had stuff arrive interstate in 2 days and WA from NSW in 3 days. Not so lucky this year as everything has gone via Chullora. Items that would normally arrive overnight have taken 2 weeks.

I agree that the couriers and AP are doing great job.
StarTrack have had extra staff on since early November but the drivers are still delivering up to 100 items a day.
My AP contractor arrived this morning with a large parcel from Victoria (I'm in Sydney) that was paid for on Wednesday.
And the tracking is showing a package from the UK should be delivered on Monday.....9 days after payment.
I am still buying but not for Xmas gifts....that was all finished by late November but we do have a number of family birthdays in January and early February.

Tippy, two of my fastest deliveries in the last week have gone via Chullora.....go figure. There seems to be no consistency.

The normally overnight parcel that took 2 weeks was to go to a suburb very close to Chullora (Padstow). It was scanned I don't know how many times before finally being delivered. I'm still waiting for something that was posted on Nov 30 that is stuck there. I lodged an enquiry with AP, but the sender has to do it as it's not marked as delivered. I sent the seller a message and they lodge an enquiry via their business account straight away, so we'll wait and see.
I know I could have just opened a case and got a refund, but I'm happy for the enquiry process to happen first. It wasn't a Christmas present, so no real rush. If AP can't find it then I'll get a refund. The enquiry that I started shows up on the tracking so the seller can see that I've tried to find it before contacting them. They responded to my email within 10 minutes and had already started the enquiry when they replied, so I'm not going to now open a dispute. They seem genuine enough, so if it can't be found I think they'd probably resend or refund without the need for a dispute.
I just felt bad because the seller shouldn't have to be out of pocket for $99 and neither should I, because AP can't get their act together. I hope that being a $99 item they took out insurance.
