Please Help.
How can top sellers in Australia sell items for only $5 including shipping with Australia (seller, item and buyer are in Australia) when the shipping for an item is more than that. I called AUS Post and they advised me that it costs $8-$9 Minimum (so for minimum weight) to ship an item anywhere in Australia.
FYI, the sellers would have 'Fast n Free' logo as well.
So how they sell it for $5, cover Ebay's commission, the shipping, the item cost and the profit when the min shipping is $8?! this is boggling.
Any help is VERY appreciated!

so if you are selling your item for $5 and you make a profit of $1.67, I would assumen you are spending $2-$3 on the shipping?
correct? How do you make shipping so cheap?
As previously stated - LARGE LETTER. Anything under 20mm thick and less than 500g can be posted as a letter.
Having said that, the item you provided is $7.95 and it is doubtful the seller is Australian. Or they are using stock photos written in Chinglish.
With their volume they would be buying by the container load if they're in Australia, so unit cost would be very low.

364 red dots out of over 100,000 is not a lot. That's why their feedback is 99.6%.
Even pj thinks that's acceptable.

That explains a lot, thank you!
But how come the shipping gets here within time if it is from China?
Drop ship for example can take 6 weeks.
I have bought items from Chinese sellers on ebay and there is a huge arrival time difference from it says "item is in Australia"
Cheers!

The seller could well have stock here in Australia which can be dispatched immediately.
Belmore and Kingsgrove both have large industrial area and Kingsgrove is home to an Australia Post Parcel Delivery Centre.
Some time ago I was looking to buy some CD/DVD plastic covers....the only criteria was that they had to be cheap. I did not care where they were coming from or how long they were going to take to get here. I bought the item and everything about the listing screamed "China".....except that the item location was a suburb of Sydney.
I paid late in the afternoon and settled back to wait forever for them to arrive from overseas. I nearly fell over when they arrived via Australia Post at 7am the next morning. Sometimes even the most suspicious listing is telling the truth.

There are plenty of Chinese companies with warehouses in Australia. The Bank of China gives them a low interest loan to start-up here....or anywhere. So they get a loan with 1% interest that puts them in front of an Aussie company to start. Back in China they can get deals from other Chinese you and I would be lucky to get, ever! They ship container loads of one or 2 product lines cheap. They fudge the books and pay less import duty and tax. They cut deals with ebay for listings.
They don't have to drop ship. The Chinese peasants may drop ship but the big companies don't have to!
