I just posted a parcel to a buyer and normally when I do that, I check the tracking number on Aust Posts tracking site (to make sure I'm putting the correct number in). It came up no event found, but sometimes it does that when i post in the early afternoon.
I uploaded tracking number onto all her items and then went to check it again and realised that I had put an extra digit in. I edited the tracking number for her order, but what I want to know is, will the edited number appear in her purchase history, or will she have the first, incorrect one?
I sent her a message with the number just in case, but thought I'd check for future reference.

I've changed an incorrect tracking number before & if it shows the changed correct one when you look at the order details, then it should be right.
Most people don't even check the tracking number but i always put them up anyway.

We always lodge parcels over the counter and get the lodgement receipt (if one is available).
Quite often when I get back home I check the numbers and it will say no events found.
Today I lodged two C&S satchels over the counter and they both show In Transit now.

Approximately 10% of my (many many) parcels do not get scanned until delivery, so in terms of tracking they sit in limbo until delivery occurs.
Sometimes they don't even get scaned on delivery - and don't get me started on the ones that aren't scanned when picked up from a post office!!
As I've said to the Aus Post CS people so often (yes, I have an ongoing open compalint file with them) there's no point in saying 'all parcels are now trackable' if they're not getting scanned. Managed to get a supervisor to call me back on the issue one day.......he started by whingeing to me about all the complaints he gets!!! Oh boo hoo - guess who got hung up on??
Sorry if I've taken this off topic - you pushed the 'let's get Aunty Vera up on her soapbox'' button!!

I buy postage online with ebay postage labels for parcels (and lodge over counter). The tracking number automatically gets entered in to my sales records.
