Are you lodging your parcels over the counter or dropping them in the red street box?

Wouldn't make any difference, proof of lodgement is not the issue. Tracking has failed down the track, and it wouldn't stop a returned item.

Its odd how individuals can have multiple and ongoing problems with posting, and others, like me, have never ever had an issue with tracking or registered post, domestic or international.

Your items havent just missed one scanning point, but multiple, at times in different cities, states and countries.

The only common theme here is you. Really no offense intended, just trying to figure out what the issue is. It makes me wonder, what are the items that you actually had issues with, and how are you packing them / what are you packing them in?  It sounds like however you are sending them is hampering their route through scanning machines (?).

I've had various problems with tracking too. Items that have arrived but tracking never shows as delivered. Tracking not updating past lodgement and not being delivered or returned. Wouldn't say it's common but it definitely happens enough to be concerned.

Your good fortune with this is great, but I blanched when you suggested this may be the OP's fault. It's a big network with thousands of staff and contractors- plenty of opportunity for stuff-ups. Some areas seem to have far more problems than others. Chances are it has nothing to do with the OP's actions, or mine for that matter.

If you've never ever had an issue I dare say you're in the minority. It does happen through no fault of the sender, truly.

I'm a minority, yay. First time in my life.

I lodge over the counter and get a lodgement receipt. I have no idea where or how long the parcels travel and I have no intention of finding out. If the buyer leaves a pos it means they got it, if they don't it means they got it. If they didn't I am sure they will let me know.

Why court trouble?

I get bad "runs" with AP.

Usually, the parcels going astray are all from lodging over 1 or 2 consecutive days....

Happened twice in 6 months.

All scanned in over the counter as per usual.

Do you people that continually have problems actually make a complaint or even ring up to tell them the tracking is not working. If you say nothing, nothing will happen to correct it. Let AP know. Perhaps it a shoddy PO or perhaps its the system, either way let them know.

The amount of parcels of mine that are not fully tracked is very minimal.

Yes, Very good point HBH.

I have a long list......

This is where people should log in and register their late or missing parcels.

"MY Support"   https://auspost.com.au/portal/#/register

Not much has ever been resolved in this system and most answers are cut and paste (just like ebay's).

Every single missing/late item of mine has a tracking number but AP claim to not know where it is.

I'm trying to understand what exactly the meaning and usefulness of having tracking numbers is on parcels yet AP not being able to locate them.....

I've had 3 deliveries recently which showed as delivered in the correct post codes but the buyers say they didn't receive them.  I believe them, they seem very legit.  I feel stuffed around a bit by the whole system, though, especially with the prices AP make me charge my buyers.  It makes things worse when it goes wrong.
