Trying to figure out SMP report

Hi,

I just downloaded my first Selling Manager Pro csv report so I could look at my sales figures from a few months ago.

Next to the column called "Gross Sales", it has an additional 2 columns called "Cost" and "Gain".

It has inserted random figures in these colums - almost as if it has taken upon itself an attempt to work out how much my items cost me to produce and then what my profit is from the sale.

It cannot possibly know that information, so what on earth is that all about?

I'm not 100% sure, as I don't use those reports for my bookkeeping, but I think the 'Cost' column might be a total of the postage you charged (i.e. it assumes any P&H listed separately is comprised of outgoing costs exclusively), plus eBay and PayPal fees.

eg On that first one, the sale of $36.00, the combined eBay and PayPal fees associated with just that sale (so not including any upgrades, store fees, insertions fees and so forth), would have been about $4.79 (assuming standard PayPal fees of 30c + 2.6%, and basic store FVF rate of 9.9%, as I'm not sure what fee amount is charged on items in your category), so if you charged $3.55 (or whatever is left if the fee percentages are different) for postage, I'm probably right..... If the combined amount adds up to something different, I'm definitely wrong. Smiley Very Happy

From what I now understand, the "Cost" part should only be showing if you use Inventory and have ACTUALLY entered a cost. Then it deducts your cost total+fees etc, from your sale total and gives you your "gain, which makes total sense.

However, I don't use the inventory tool.

I went through a couple of other monthly reports and it seems to be random with a cost allocation for some items and nothing for others.

Just stupid, really.
