I can see this guide
http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/questions/buyer-invoice.html
But it says to select the item from the sold tab(and select the item), how can I select and active item - adjust the cost and then ivoice them?
They have not bought it yet, but I want to sell from an active listing and use the details and pic, just change the price.
I do not want to change the original listing, just use that template - copy it.
I just relisted it, and told them the item number.
Thanks

You are all missing the point.
I want to send an invoice without publically listing it first in a category and giving them the item number.
I just want to send the person an invoice without them buying an item publically listed. Because if they dont pay immediately and I have say, 1 item, and someone else come along and buys it, it stuffs it up.
So, a customer asks for an item that is not listed.
I need to sell the customer that item.
Therefore, I have this item and need to send them an invoice.
To send them an invoice, I need to list it or I can send it to them without publically listing it.
I am a long distance from the place of sale, I cant just add a pic. And, I dont want it in my listings yet !

If i have 'Best offer option' open. Can they offer more than the listed item?

You CAN'T send an invoice for an item that hasn't been listed. You've been told that already. No transaction has taken place. The only way you can do it is as I said. List the item with a ridiculously high price with best offer, get the buyer to make an offer for the amount you agreed with, you accept their offer, they pay, you send. If it's an item with free postage, no invoice is required.

NO why would a buyer offer you more than the price you have listed lol

If I want to list for a selected buyer I just list it with a one word, meaningless title like 'The' and a minimal description. '3 gizmos' or similar. I send the buyer the item number, they buy it and I send them an invoice.

You cannot sell an item that is not listed....that is trading off ebay and can see you suspended from ebay permanently.
As you cannot sell the item you do not need to send an invoice.
Have you even tried to work all this out for yourself....the Site Map is not hard to understand.
