We have a buyer who failed to pay or respond to messages (typical).
So after 10-days I opened a UIC against them.
Next day I get a message from the buyer asking for bank details which I passed back straight away.
So she says she has been into the bank to do a direct deposit into our account over the counter.
She says the bank told her it will take 5-7 days to reach our account.
Now the UIC will close before that time.
So what happens now if after the case closes we receive the deposit into our account?
Since we would have received her money I guess we should mail the item out.
But with the case closed we will have been credited our FVF back.
Never been in this position before.

IF you receive the payment, ring eBay, I'm sure they will welcome the opportunity to reinvoice you.
But if the customer does pay, they do deserve to have the strike removed. (ONCE it is in your account) as would happen if they payed by PayOPal.
Bright side is, by closing the case, if you have peeved them by opening it, they can't leave feedback, but you still get the sale and have been u0pfront and honest about it all and handled it fairly.
Win/Win really

I've never heard of a direct deposit over the counter taking up to week - they usually appear instantly. o_O Was it a cheque deposit? Even then the transaction usually shows much faster than that. Your buyer may be telling the truth, so I'm not trying to say they're not, but I have people use BD often enough to draw out the UPI process and never actually pay that I'm pretty wary of it, personally.
Are you using the UPI assitant? If not, it's up to you when the dispute closes, so you could leave it open for a week if you want, up to 35 days from the date of sale. If you are using it, you can still turn it off so that the case doesn't close automatically.

I'd wait to see what happens first - if I was a gambler I'd bet they haven't paid!
Keep the item for a few more days - if the payment turns up, send it. If it doesn't - relist.
As for the strike - leave that up to the buyer to deal with. It is their problem not yours.
As for the fees - if you are like us there are plenty of situations where we haven't been able to reclaim fees due to the way eBay handles these issues. On the very rare occasions it works in our favour we just smile quietly to ourselves 🙂

Unless they use a card over the counter to make the deposit it should show up in your account the same day. I would give it another couple of days and then close the dispute saying they hadn't paid then, if it does appear later down the road you can contact ebay and ask them to remove the strike as the buyer has now paid.

Well... wonders will never cease.
The bank deposit from the buyer did show up late yesterday afternoon.
Must have been literally hours before the UIC was due to close as unpaid.
So it's now on the waiting shipment list and the case is closed and paid. All good!
Talk about right down to the wire. LOL

Don't you just love those last minute payments.
