Unhappy buyer

I purchased a camera from an Australian Camera Supplier in Western Australia.  I was referred to him via Whirlpool forums and he had the best price I could find.  The supplier covers the camera under their warranty for 12 months.

I had to sell the camera and some storage disks as I had some expensive dental work to pay for unfortunately.

I started the bid from $1 and it ended up selling for $1000.

Now the buyer is complaining that I misled him saying that the camera I purchased was from a grey importer and not an australian supplier.   The company I purchased the camera from is a registered company in Australia.  He sells photographic equipment to professionals and on his website is very transparent about his warranties etc etc. .

The buyer is nasty and complaining that the warranty isn't good enough.  I had in my listing that it was from an Australian Supplier and was under 12 months warranty.  Nothing I have said has been a lie or misleading.  There were lots of people bidding for the camera.

Now he is saying he is going to lodge a complaint with paypal.  I'm very upset about this and I don't know what to do.  I've done nothing wrong and I wish I had the camera back and hadn't had to sell it becasue it was a lovely camera. .

Anyway, any feedback form anyone would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Re: Unhappy buyer

Yes I know that is what he is upset about and yes it was couriered from Hong Kong but like I said in my listing, I PURCHASED the camera from an Australian Camera supplier. I never EVER said that the camera WAS FROM Australia or that the camera WAS Australian stock. But at the time when I was listing it I had no understanding of the significance of this "grey" import stuff. But having said that, I didn't say anything in the listing that was incorrect. The buyer has misinterpreted and now is blaming me trying to make out I lied. If it was of so much importance to him why didnt he asked me about it further . . he asked ONE question about it. . Yet other bidders asked multiple questions. . .

Re: Unhappy buyer

I've seen your listing and I think it was more than above board.  I agree with you that a buyer outlaying that sort of money should ask the sorts of questions that would influence their decision to bid well before bidding, especially if they intend to bid in the final seconds.

I hope it all works out well for you, but, sorry to say, I think that if the PayPal decision goes in your favour that the buyer will leave you a negative.  If this does happen, do not leave follow-up until you have time to try to have the negative removed.  Until they leave feedback you will not know whether it qualifies for removal.  If they make reference to any dispute it can be removed.  If you do follow-up to their feedback, keep it factual and calm without any namecalling.

Re: Unhappy buyer

Slr Sales the new feedback policy pretty much supports automatic removal of negative feedback if you win a Paypal claim.

OP very pleased you are feeling better about it, thats good news.

I have also found the vast majority of Paypal agents very helpful and knowledgeable too.  Wish I could say the same for eBay reps.

Re: Unhappy buyer

going a bit off tangent here . . . . . . you need to put that buyer on your Blocked Bidder List now to prevent them from ever buying from you again.  If things don't go their way they might look to make trouble, so better to block than have to deal with more grief.  Once this whole saga is over you will also be able to change your preferences so that they are not able to contact you through eBay messages either.  If they send you a message direct to your email address you can just delete it and set your email filters to trash any emails from them.  If any of this sounds like jibberish to you then come back and ask about those bits that you need help with.  We are here to help.

Re: Unhappy buyer

well mum, I think this thread has shown how the boards should work.

An OP comes here in a bit of a state of despair, looking for help/advice.  They are receptive to the advice that is offered and provide further details when asked for them.  They are helped through what for them is a difficult time, and it appears that all is going well at the moment and the prospects are there for a positive outcome for them.  However, it's not over yet, and it is important that we advise them of other/related matters.  Better to be prepared than caught unawares.

Re: Unhappy buyer

This would have to be the most CONSTRUCTIVE thread I have seen on this forum.  Most tend to go off at a tangent on things that have no relevance at all to the original subject. Great to see such positive assistance being offered.

Re: Unhappy buyer

I'm still waiting to hear about this. In the mean time I've been reading some comments on other forums which have really concerned me from sellers saying that the SNAD paypal claims thing is a scam and that paypal almost always see in favour of the buyer and that when they are told to return the goods they can send a box of rocks and PP won't do anything, so basically I've been scammed. This is one of their comments "After Getting Screwed Many Times Sending Free Gifts Worldwide on eBay! SNAD = over 3,000.00 in Refunds, Regardless of the item being returned or not, Or a Box of Rocks being tracked as a return item< I find that after countless hours fighting with eBay and Paypal, All You get from these Monkeys is (It's Or Policy) SO In order to Re-coop your Money (If you Can't Beatem / Joinem) If I buy an Item truly I will find something wrong with it and File SNAD for a Free Item and a FULL REFUND so Christmas shopping is Delightful and you can buy your family and friends the very best presents!
The Newest of all Scams is wait 30 days File SNAD and ask for a 50% refund and keep the item or Just say you got a Box of Rocks delivered! Hell, Its There Policy to give refunds for any reason so Join The Band Wagon and Like Paypal Says Its the Worlds Favorite way to Get Paid In Full!! The Only way to not be a Victim of these Scams is to not Sell or Give away your items on eBay!" Now I'm really worried. 😞
