Do I have to post it or do I just refund it and not post it.
It's really your call, but I'd personally post it - TBH, unless there were extenuating circumstances, I would have waited to see if the eCheque cleared or not before taking any action on the case, since as long as it's pending, there's every possibility the buyer has indeed paid and it will clear (along with the possibility that it will fail, of course, but most of the time you can't really know until PayPal send notification of clearance or failure).

I would send the item and also ccontact ebay and ask them to remove the strike as the buyer has now paid. I would not have closed the case while an echeque payment was being processed.

I would still post it. You're in an ideal situation; your buyer has paid and is unable to leave you negative feedback or low detailed seller ratings since the dispute process will prevent them from ever leaving feedback. Also, if you refund, you might receive a defect.
Next time though, I'd recommend turning off Unpaid Item Assistant as soon as you receive an eCheque for a disputed transaction. This will keep the dispute open but will stop the dispute from automatically closing. You can always still manually close the case and give them a strike if the need later arises.
