Upoad Documents - I take it this page is a scam!

I received an invitation to register for managed payments "Found-in-australia, you’re invited to register for managed payments." I did not take up the invitation. I am now getting emails titled "REMINDER: You're required to register for managed payments". Like an idiot, I have followed the link today to:

https://www.ebay.com.au/mes/dlp

I note that one of the listed steps is to "Upoad documents". I also note that the original invitation email says I am required to register for managed payments in the body of the email. Given there is a substantial difference between being invited to do something and being required to do something, and the failure to even spell the word upload correctly on a page that would be very important if it was legitimate, the language and spelling problems suggest that registering on this page, is the equivalent of answering a Nigerian money laundering scam email.

A warning to be wary. Scammers don't go away during pandemics.

Regards, Kevin

Damn, looks like the scammers/hackers are now hacking the ebay.com.au website and creating their own pages! Thanks for the tip.

Did it come via ebay messages,  From memory  it looks like the genuine message from ebay  and  the section 'learn more about what's changing" has highlighted areas, indicating I have been there before.

From memory my first notification from ebay was an invitation (politely saying do it)    Second message was you are now required

to register... (Or no more selling).

Yes you are required to upload documents/details,  for bank details a proof of account is sufficient, and can be downloaded from your relevant bank.

I followed ebays request/demand  and payments are being processsed daily

Sounds like a possible scam link, but ultimately, you most likely WILL be required to register for managed payments, and you will need to upload either a copy of a passport or drivers licence. If you don't register as requested, your ability to sell on here will be finished, as this is the new way of doing business on Ebay.

Does your Seller Hub not show a formal inviation to register with a deadline requirement? If it's not rolled out for you yet, it will be sooner or later.

I am too old school. I am only back on Ebay due to a pandemic closing down the business that I left Ebay in 2016 to run (live auctions, which I won't be able to do until social distancing is finished).

So, where is my seller hub?

What happened to the ACCC decision that other payment options must be allowed?

Kind Regards, Kevin

Click on My eBay and it should take you to the seller hub.

A buyer can use many forms of payment, so the ACCC won't get involved.

Thanks,

There is an "introducing Seller Hub" page there, it doesn't mention managed payments. (I have a different home page for My Ebay).

The email is in my messages, if I click from there for the "Learn More" it takes me to an equivalent of the home page with "Ebay Top Deals" at the top. Everything about this is either sus, or unsatisfactorily laid out with wrong links, bad spelling and mismatched use of language. Of course I am meant to trust them, based on almost no supplied information, and send them information that can be used to steal my identity. I am guessing I will be NARU'd, because I am not going further without appropriate information and security in sending my information.

It would be laughable if it wasn't peoples livelihoods, and using the cover of a pandemic, when people are forced back to their site to keep trading, while their business is not allowed to open.

Are direct deposit and payment on pickup included in the "many forms of payment" that buyers can use?

Regards,  Kevin

Edited to change including to included.

No idea. I'm not on managed payments yet.

I can't see why cash on pickup wouldn't be allowed. eBay will collect their new fees regardless. I suspect direct bank deposit will be directly to eBay/Adyen
