WHO SHOULD LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST????

Folks,

What are the 'rules' around leaving feeback?  I've always been undert the impression that the buyer leaves feedback first and then the seller leaves feedback.  What are your views?

Thanks!

WHO SHOULD LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST????

Ok I am sorry if I wasn't perfectly accurate and precise.

These are my beliefs in a nutshell:

I believe feedback is a matter of personal choice.
There are many excellent sellers who don't leave feedback on payment.
Leaving feedback on payment doesn't make someone a better seller, it just makes their life easier.

No rules, but tons of buyers expect sellers to leave it first, and tons of sellers prefer to leave it after the buyer does.

And yes... I bolded those two words because over the years, just based on discussions on these boards, I've noticed 99% of the time, when a buyer talks about this issue, they state a seller "should leave feedback first"  - but just to be clear, not 99% of all buyers, there are plenty of buyers who don't care one way or the other, but of the ones that do, it's rare for it to be conveyed any other way than an expectation - as opposed to when sellers generally talk about it, they talk about what they prefer to do themselves, rather than what they expect others to do... o.o

I'm a buyer and I don't expect sellers to leave it first.  In fact depending on the item or cost I figure the seller will probably wait to see if my item has arrived and I'm happy with it....and that's fine by me.

I assume (not being a seller) that some leave feedback early as a kind of proof to say they have posted the item.  But I've struck others who do it for more enterprising reasons like sellers who like to devote their comments to advertising their business (especially if they are also a B&M shop), and one seller from overseas who always made a point of mentioning where the buyer was as in: Another successful sale to Australia.  I thought that was funny.

Personally I don't think it matters.  I like to leave feedback and I like to receive it.  The timing is not critical.

Ditto.

I've been a buyer a lot longer than I've been a seller, though I focus more on the selling these days, but the majority of FB for this ID is from buying, and I haven't expected any one of them. That's why I said 'tons of buyers', rather than 'all buyers'.

@donna - I was more questioning consistency than accuracy. I have similar, if not identical, beliefs, and in subsequent posts, I was trying to figure out how the initial comment re: timing meshed with the rest of what you were saying.
