What is the difference between an eBay template and an eBay store design?

Hi

I am just starting out on eBay and I have opened my store.

I am not sure what the difference between and eBay template and an eBay store design are.  Can anyone give me recommendations for designers and should I get a template or store design.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

Whatever you decide, just make sure it's app friendly. A lot of store listings these days are near impossible to see properly on the phone app.

They can be the same thing, but a template is commonly used to refer to the listing description design, i.e. HTML that is common in all listing descriptions that you have, and that can be graphics, backgrounds, store policies, and so forth, ranging from simple text to elaborate design.

A store design is all the other stuff that's unique to your store, and can alter the look, layout etc of eBay's standard store design. For example, you can design a different home page than what eBay provides as standard, you can change the look of your store menus, and even change the look of store pages so that the product galleries look different.

Or, in summary, a template would be a way to customise individual listing descriptions and give them a sense of uniformity, a store design is a way to customise the overall look of your store and give it some 'unique-ness'.

I have a listing template (I used robshelp / FreeForm 2 to design my own), but left eBay's store design as is and just uploaded a banner and logo. Whether or not you should do either really depends on how much you want to establish branding - if branding isn't of high import, I don't think either matter too much, if it is, then some attention to the look of listings and the store will probably be of benefit.

Thank you that does make it clearer for me. I think I am going to  do both so I can get maximum impact. I also want to look professional and trustworthy. It is hard when your starting out to get the help you need, so thank you again.

I don't want to sound picky, but I just checked your listings to see what you were selling and there's something you might need to fix. The postage. It comes up as free postage, but in the actual description, you say free postage is only for the east coast. Quite a few buyers only read the title and look at the photos, they don't read the description.

If someone in WA bought one thinking it was free postage and you then hit them for postage, you're just as likely to cop a neg for your efforts. There's also the "issue" of buyers buying and paying straight away. If someone in WA buys one and pays straight away, again, you can't then force them to pay for postage.

My suggestion would be to list them as freight and once you know where the buyer is from, you can adjust the postage rate accordingly. The last thing you need while getting established is a big red dot and a defect.

Thank you I will check into the listing them as freight. I am happy to pay up to a certain amount for postage but as posting to some areas can cost a lot more. When speaking to eBay that's what they sugguest I do. I am learning so much every day so will look into the postage further. Thanks again.
