Hi Everyone,
I am a former ebay seller that is interested to hear from people who sell on ebay full time or are thinking of making the transition.
What is your #1 challenge for growing a ebay business?
Best regards
Phil

Every Australian seller having to put up with the abuse of the variation listings format by overseas "sellers",(by
having a "low" cost item that has nothing to do with their listing title).
They can't "punish" those sellers but they are slowly destroying the search parameters on this this site via
their actions,(searching for some items is now a nightmare in trying to avoid those listings).
The amount of fake seeds that's permitted by this site,eg: Rainbow,Black and numerous other fake Rose
seeds,Blue and Green Strawberries and the list goes on,
Their lack of action in removing fake and scam listings,(even after being given all the necessary information
needed to show the fakes/scams).
As Digi said:
While I am on cart issues, while this doesn't seem to have affected me yet, forcing immediate payment required on sellers who did not opt to do so, as well as removing 'add to cart' on affected seller's listings is shockingly terrible, and an issue that has been recurring for years - of course this loses buyers, as they can not purchase multiple items all at once, taking advantage of combined postage discounts, and the seller is whacked with full FVF for each postage amount.
So it's their continual greed in not fixing that issue as eBay would lose all those extra FVF's,(I've always
considered it a deliberate ploy to gain those extra FVF's similar to the charge on postage).

Being allowed to have one lol.
Had a great ebay business only to have it taken away by ebay because of ebay kissing the scamming buyers **bleep**'s.
Ebay being able to shut you down at any moment for doing the right things.
These are just a few of the challengers.

Being objective it would be erstwhile experts who no longer sell on eBay trying to leverage other peoples' experience in order to make money from advising people about how to sell on eBay. Given they no longer have that experience to draw upon.
AND not paying the other people for their contribution to the 'expert's' bottom line.
Although said expert reckons they aren't in it for the money. So they don't make money from running PeSa. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

This is actually a really serious issue - just to use your post as a springboard...
Site glitches, functions (and / or lack thereof) notwithstanding, seller confidence to actually invest in growing an eBay business is consistently undermined by eBay policies, and / or their enacting of them (and has been getting worse for a good few years - the "grace" period they've decided to implement might have been a step in the right direction, but if you can find me a decent number of sellers that genuinely trust eBay, I'll be quite surprised). No matter how big a seller gets, or how high their volume goes, every single one of them knows that it could all end in an instant (well, the ones that don't have special deals and signed contracts), with little to no consideration given by eBay in so far as right of appeal goes. That means it's a less than ideal environment for long-term business investment and growth.
(NB I do make a living with my online business, but while I often prioritise eBay, I see considerably more market confidence and growth opportunities via other avenues, and thus eBay is given less and less priority every day).

Possibly, but in order for that to be possible, they would need to offer a solution for the issues that have been raised, and not even eBay seem to be prepared to do that for the ones that are the most serious and legitimate stumbling blocks to growth on-site.

So the OP's solicitation is pointless

If you presume their intention is to use the information to create some form of guidance for sellers, then largely and most likely, yes, but hey... if they can provide solutions to any of these issues, then they're welcome to all my concerns (I'm not a PeSA person, though if these problems can be addressed or mitigated, it'll trickle down to me eventually ).
Perhaps it's more common (or that it used to be more common) for people to cite resource, order processing and accounting issues, which are the kinds of things that someone may be able to provide some solutions for (and probably because these would easily have been primary concerns not so long ago), but (to me) it's clear that the real issues are the ones that can't be solved by anyone going "have you thought about trying this....". Unless the "this" is 'don't think, just list and hope for the best'. Which is pretty much what I do anyway.

For me it is simply the high cost of postage which is holding back my business. Plain and simple.

I am asking as I put the agenda together for 2 major marketplace conferences. I want to know the pain points. I am the only one on the PeSA board that does not sell. Every other member has skin in the game. None of the board get paid. Board members regally help other members for nothing. Board members regularly meet with ebay to discuss these issues. As you have sold a few things I donโt think you really understand the history of PeSA and the time donated to helping people. Join the ebay sellers group Australia on Facebook and you will see.

As a former seller, why not try selling again for the experience these days. Isn't experience much better knowledge, to speak from experience not second hand information.
