When is eBay going to make the Buyer take onus and be responsible and penalise for their actions

Hi to All

After 15 years of selling on eBay and **bleep** footing around Buyers

Those who take no responsibility for their actions,

I'm wondering when will eBay after put a plan or penalty system into action for buyers who have no intention of carrying out purchaces

Will have A penalty in stopping constant non paying bidders,

I know as a Seller I'm totally regulated, and controlled by eBay and Buyers, so why shouldn't Buyers be responsible for the defaults.

Realising the WOW a strike is put against them! ,Whoopee, may be I suggest, 1 Strike, one month suspension, after renew after a Month another strike 3 months suspension, if renew again after 3 months and another strike 6 months Hoilday, and if renew after that  and happens again .Good Bye for Good.People are trying to run business not get stuffed around and onate money to eBay for 7 days

Really Get with it and Fix it , as what your running now ain't working.

Not working for who?

Most sellers seem reasonably happy with the system and can work with it.

If ebay starts suspending buyers after one default then the system will work just fine....there won't be any buyers to muck sellers around.

You clearly aren't aware that this board is read by sellers and buyers - not by ebay !!

No point YELLING here, ebay won't hear you !!

Ebay's system works just fine for me !!

I use the ebay NPB dispute to it's full advantage & add all offenders to by blocked buyers party list 🙂

Why not  take advantage of ebay's immediate payment required facility.. if they don't pay up straitaway... stops all non payers...  !!!

The difference between stupidity and genius, is that genius has its limits.

Lyndal has bought at least 5740 items on eBay.

I am sure she is not in the 1%.

And if your 'research' says it's 1% then that is not a big issue, is it?

You have been given solutions to reduce the likelihood of non-payers, including one absolute foolproof one. I realise it would require you to be proactive and do a bit of work, rather than rely on eBay to cosset you, but that's life in the real world.

Wow you have a 90 feedback mate try doing it for a living and see the amount of people who cause problems when you have to deal with them everyday.

I sell around 500 items a year on my main IDs and I would get about 10 NPBs a year.

I don't demand immediate payment, but I do have blocks in place for serial non-payers.

I can understand your frustration.

I think ebay does try to some extent by allowing sellers to block people with 2 strikes etc

Quite possibly they could up the ante by allowing sellers to block after one strike.

We seem to live though in an era where everyone expects and gets second and third chances. 40 chances if you are a young criminal.

I don't believe the situation will stay the same forever though.

I predict ebay will move more and more to immediate payment required on purchases. Where items won't even be considered bought unless paid for. This is how just about every other online site works. You can put whatever you like into a cart but until you have paid, it is not 'yours' and someone could buy it from under you.

Most items these days are new items so the switch to this sort of sale would be easy.

For auction items (which are nowhere as common any more) I can imagine ebay shortening the payment period to eg 24 hours.

There would still be some non paying buyers & I am betting ebay will leave it as sellers having to put in a claim, but at least the process would be faster.

I am not sure that 24 hours is a viable timeframe, especially for overseas sales.

I think 48 hours is probably more realistic.  This is the timeframe that ebay suggests to allow to receive answers from sellers when using the message system.

It also gives a few hours grace when ebay/paypal is playing up....sometimes it is just not possible to pay immediately, no matter how well intentioned a buyer is.

No other ecomerce site that I know of that has this "commit to buy"  and pay later!   A total sham indeed . IT NEED TO GO FOR EVER . They need to fix their shopping cart and shipping calculator instead.   Shipping calculator never works.  NEVER.
