This morning I had a buyer purchase 3 items from me and she paid straight away.
Thirty minutes later she messages me to apologise and say she's changed her mind and would I please cancel and refund.
I have no problem doing so, but which way is better -
a) She should open a "Cancel this Order" from her side.
b) I open a "Cancel this Order" from my side.
Which way works better in terms of a defect rating, or does it not matter?

You only have 2 options so click the buyer requested to cancel the order.
Then the buyer needs to agree that they have received a refund, once they do then you will receive your fees back.

As long as you select 'buyer changed mind' you should not receive a defect. (i said should not) if you choose that you want to cancel for any other reason you will cop a defect. And yes buyer will then have to agree to the cancelation ticking she received a refund.
