Why are there so many scammers?

I've "sold" about 3 things and yet all these people who are trying to buy it said that they will pay via paypal and then I get the fake payment from a fake paypal account in my spam folder. This is really starting to make me very angry and I don't know why i'm getting so many scammers.

Any suggestions as to why?

Why are there so many scammers?

List it as a buy now and tick the immediate payment required box.

This way if anyone clicks on buy now it is not sold till they pay.

So once they pay then the item is sold.

I hope you open non payer disputes for the non payers so you get your fees back or you will have to pay ebay.

Are you reporting the fake Accounts to PayPal?

There is a Link on the PayPal Site to do so. If you don't they can't shut people down.

What ever u do, dont fall for the accidental purchase excuse.

List em as unpaid buyers or else

ebay will charge u the selling fees as the buyer

possibly wont process the cancellation request.

N yes they can buy n then not pay even tho u have

pay by paypal immediately.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to have all your buyer blocks in place.

Site preferences > Buyer Requirements

The completed  listing that I looked at yesterday for the dress seems to have been removed by ebay.

The 'buyer' was almost certainly a SCAMMER on a hijacked account.

Did ebay refund your final value fee ?

If any other of your completed listings bought by SCAMMERS haven't been removed, phone ebay through Help and Contact ( top of page). They may reimburse your fees without the need for an Unpaid Item case.

Although listing at a fixed price / BIN and  having immediate payment required may help with your problems, this won't prevent a Scammer using a stolen credit card.

Scammers love Buy It Now.

Beware of spoof/phishing emails you may receive  in the future.

Don't open them and don't click on any links.

Run all your spyware, keylogging and virus protection and change your passwords regularly.

Hi Toys,

Yes I totally agree with you, but I was referring to the fake & hijacked PayPal A/Cs that are now starting to pop up as part of the never ending ways that Scammers are finding to rip as all off.

And I'll say it again that IMHO this nonsense of having to wait 4 days to open a UPI & then another 4 before we can close it is just that - UTTER NONSENSE!!!!

If a Buyer doesn't have the money at time of purchase then they just don't buy the item - It's as simple as that. So IMMEDIATE payment within 24hrs of purchase or the order is AUTOMATICALY cancelled & all FVFs refunded is not unreasonable as far as I'm concerned. 24hrs gives the Buyer enough time have their money ready in their Account.

eBay, the platform owner, doesn't agree.

If you are selling BIN you can opt for instant payment. It precludes anything except Paypal and doesn't allow combined postage. Depends how much you wish to inconvenience potential buyers, I suppose.

Also - please tell me which bank transfers money into Paypal within 24 hours. Invariably. Even on weekends.
