accuracy of Australia Post tracking online

Am curious about this one. Normally I post items from the Post Office
in my own suburb. Tracking always shows the correct suburb (mine).
But this week I received a package and I noticed the tracking
delivery location as a different suburb (in fact a suburb next to mine).
Why or how would this happen?

If I wanted to be really naughty I could say the item did not arrive
and put in a claim/open a case. If they went to investigate it would
show as delivered but to the next suburb...

Would I "win"? Does the system need tweaking/more accuracy?

Thanks for your input tonight, DG. I got a bit side tracked due to my frustrations with postal staff!

Re: accuracy of Australia Post tracking online

Well Amber, I couldn't be happier with my local LPO staff. They're a reasonably young Chinese couple and they always have a smile and pleasant word for everyone, regardless of how they are treated in return (and believe me, where I live the local population doesn't warm easily to anybody who doesn't look like they were born in Australia).

I went in to buy a pack of prepaid C5 envelopes last week and while I was there, without any prompting the lovely young woman asked me if I had a health care card and when I told her that I did, she immediately grabbed an application form for concessional stamps and completed it for me while I waited, while also explaining its benefits in full. She couldn't have been more helpful, and unlike the surly Australian pig who used to be the licensee, she happily gave me a letter gauge when I simply asked if it was possible to obtain one, and even wrote the various prices on it for me (despite my already knowing them).

BTW, I know they're Chinese because when I thanked them I did so in Mandarin and they responded in kind, just as they did when I also said goodbye. I've had quite a lot to do with Chinese people and I've always liked them, but this pair is definitely a cut above the rest, and a real credit to Australia Post.

cq, I think my local post office staff are stressed, and I don't blame them. Lot of changes happening at AP.

I do appreciate that Amber, but that doesn't give them the right to take out their frustrations on the customers when it's not their fault.

Mine don't. They no longer smile at every customer, and are less friendly than they used to be, but they are not rude. It is the other poster's (Chezzy's) post office that has the grumps.

which isn't nice, but I would not let that change my posting arrangements...Chezzy is thinking of keeping parcels for a Saturday post.

cq, with your post office staff, have you thought about letting AP know that they are providing an excellent, friendly service? Sometimes it's nice to send on a compliment ๐Ÿ™‚

Funny you should mention that Amber, as after I typed my previous message I was thinking exactly the same thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am not looking for people to add to my Christmas card list or be my friend on facebook, am not even interested in small talk. I simply would like (love) to be given the impression I am actually welcome inside their store to post my items. And that I am allowed to use a prepaid envelope and then ask (to purchase) a registered post label for it. Or that I am still able to use an old product such as Parcel Post Plus, that it isnt some kind of nuisance and I am not out to make their lives miserable.

Quite often I am the only customer in the store (or one of few) so it is not like they are under any additional pressure at the time. It is not even around parcel/mail pick up time.

Unless their attitudes change then yes I am seriously thinking of avoiding them and supporting a more pleasant PO (which may mean I am limited to Sat am despatches). As a casual seller it is a risk I can possibly afford to take although it is not ideal!

Funny you should mention that about the lovely Chinese couple at your local PO.

We have exactly the same here at our local PO in Deception Bay, QLD.

They are just lovely and sooo helpful just as you described.

Oh and BTW my wife is Chinese as well. Perhaps that helps a bit.

But seriously why should it make any difference to the reception one receives

just because one can speak their language or has a spouse that can.

I have not mentioned race/nationality for a reason because I did not think

it relevant. But perhaps it is. I would love to be a fly on the wall in my

Post Office to see if the sourpusses (there appear to be two of them)

treat people of their nationality better.....
