any free listings for stores?

I dont actually need any... im just wondering if Ebay has actually made a concious decision to stop them completely, or limit them now.

I always thought the amount they used to give away, and the timing, was crazy (from a business point of view).

Taking bets on an adjustment in listing benefits for each store levels in the next few months...

I don't know if this applies to stores or not, but I've also noticed that if you relist unsold items using the blue "relist" button, the 3 free relists are not activated - you have to manually revise each individual item to enable the relist-3-times-for-free checkbox. Also, Best Offer is always turned on by default on BINs even if it was never selected, you have to uncheck the box every time. Quite annoying IMO.

This is not the way it works for me.  I can relist any way I like and if the original listing had AR ticked then it'll automatically be ticked on the relist.  I usually bulk relist because it saves time but also because best offer isn't the default and I don't have to waste time unticking it.

To gtx, AR isn't just for auctions.  I only do BIN listings and it's available on all of them.  It seems that some people fit the requirements but just don't get it for some reason, and nobody seems to know why.

davewil, if you time it right you should be able to have 1,100 listings without paying listing fees:  List 200 each month and then let each lot of 200 sit in unsold for up to 60 days before they're relisted.  If you've got too many going into unsold at a particular time, schedule some of them so they end up evenly spread over 6 months (4 months active, 2 months in unsold).  But you're a mathematician and I'm sure you've got all that figured out!

Re: any free listings for stores?

ok thanks.... where, when listing an item, would the AR button be, if I was eligible?

Re: any free listings for stores?

Right above the confirm listing button at the very bottom of the second page. Sometimes there's also a box for "save this listing as a template". It's got the little box and then it says something like "automatically relist this item up to three times for free if it doesn't sell", so you can't miss it if it's there and you're looking for it.

Re: any free listings for stores?

My business model is set. If it requires payment for listing, I pay. And I don't like having things sitting around unlisted. Too difficult to sell them.

Re: any free listings for stores?

Im very interested in this idea, but haven't completely understood how it works yet. However it doesn't look like I'm elligible anyway as its not showing up as an option where you state it should be... ?

If you use selling manager I don't think you get the option to auto relist 3 times for free. You have to list them through the selling page on My eBay to get it.

Re: any free listings for stores?

I'm wondering whether some of the people with stores who haven't got AR have got their listings on GTC instead of on 30 days. GTC would cancel out the option to auto relist.

Edit:  GTC would cancel out the option to auto relist for free.  They do auto relist but they come off your freebies or you're charged for them.

Who knows how ebay works on this one?  I'm just VERY thankful that I get AR!!

Re: any free listings for stores?

Yep that makes sense. And is the situation for me.

Ok so Im just trying to figure out what I do.

Step 1. End all my listings, and relist 200 of them as 30 day listings. Find and make sure the AR option is switched on

Step 2. List an additional 200 listings in a weeks time? (wouldn't I be charged $100 for this?) Find and make sure the AR option is switched on

Step 3, wait a month, the first 200 is listed free anyway due to my basic store payment, the 2nd 200 is Auto Relisted for free, 1st of 3 times?

Is this all factual?

Re: any free listings for stores?

OR do I

Step 1. As above,

Step 2. wait a month, for the first 200 to auto free relist, then list another 200 for free due to my basic store payment

Step 3. Wait a month, the first 200 will auto free relist for their 2nd time, the 2nd 200 will auto free relist for the 1st time, then I list a fresh batch of 200.

When the first batch of 200 finishes its 29th day of its 3rd and final auto free relist, I cancel all those listings, and relist them a few days later as brand new listings...

so it takes 3-4 months to actually get the system of 800 listings up for free... yes?

Re: any free listings for stores?

If you have more listings to do, try one on 30 days and see if the option to auto relist three times for free is there.  If it's not there, there's no point in you ending all your current GTC listings.  If you've got no new listings to do, just end ONE of your current listings to experiment.

If the option to relist for free is there, don't end your current listings until they're just about to roll over to a new cycle.  You may as well get as much of the current cycle as possible so there's no point in ending them too early.  Better to do some brand new listings this month if you have no listings ending until next month, or if everything is listed, just end however many freebies you've still got left.

If you can get AR by having them all on 30 days, start 200 off in April and the next 200 in May from your normal 200 freebies.  Don't start an extra 200 in a week's time because you will have already used up all of April's freebies already and you'll get charged - it has to be done next month.  Then wait till June to do the next 200, then July for the last 200.  In August, April's will drop into unsold and you relist them using your normal monthly allocation.  I've got mine set this way so it does work.  I spread them out so I have something showing in newly listed and ending soonest every single day, but I don't list every day.  I can also spread them out over the day if I want to.

I suppose ebay will take it away from us now that they know how easy it is to manage them to maximum advantage.  Man Sad
