bank deposit payment.... buyers cannot find details, automatically linked to paypal even on pickup

grr ebay are annoying me again.... 

I prefer bank deposit payment due to paypals fees and thats what I say in my listings.  also if someone is picking up, coming to pick up anyway I prefer cash.... a preference I know I can't say must.

However I've had over the last week people say they can't read my deposit details or my invoice leads them direct to paypal ...

I've checked my settings and my bank details look to be correct, I don't have paypal as preferred payment and if I get the opportunity before someone pays straight away I copy and paste my bank details into the special instructions of my invoice ....

what am I doing wrong.  I appreciate if its all too hard a buyer will pay paypal , but those who actually want to work with me and pay deposit, they can't even find the correct details!   and yes when a buyer is picking up they always end up paying by paypal (I'm aware to list I have to tick that option - thats ebay rules) but the listing seems to take them straight through..... fortunately they delete out post so I don't pay 9.9% on that but why is this happening.... any helpful hints please?

maybe they're using a phone...the apps are notorious for not working or not showing correct/full details

There are also buyers who immediately hit the paypal button as soon as they see that you prefer bank deposit. They see it as the scammers way of getting you to lose your paypal protection.

as a buyer i would allways choose paypal over DD, why would anyone cut themselves off from paypals obvious positives?

of course as a seller its better not having to refund when a sale goes wrong.

i wonder how many sellers use DD and not paypal when buying even though they 'prefer' DD when selling?

personally i dont do DD unless a buyer requests it and i allways tell them, it takes 3 or 4 days to clear, you get no cover if item has a problem ect. most go straight to the paypal button.

yes I realise most go staight for the paypal button, and ebay makes that very easy for them.. BD - it actually takes up to 2 business days, and you can see the amount coming into your account usually before even then, depending on when in the week it is.

If a buyer prefers it, I try to accommodate if they ask for it. a scammer, no I'm not!

so.... back to my original questions is why can they not see my details if they want them...?

why cant they see your details, by guess would be an ebay glitch if youve done everything correct. maybe they'll show tuesday, tuesdays are nice days. lol

adding to the other bit of discussion, your not a scammer i know...but would you be tempted to not refund a buyer if you thought you were getting scammed? where under PP they get the money back regardless it would seem from reading the boards.

The last few buyers that I had that used BD all had trouble. The common denominator was, they were all using phones to pay. I directed them all to the full site, where they were able to pay.....except one. Even with detailed instructions, he couldn't find his way around the full site, so I ended up sending the details via a message.

I will bet that your buyer is using a phone.

Have you allowed for the small glitch that even if you put it in your details, if the buyer looks at the bank deposit details later the BSB number does not show.     So you need to put the BSB number in the same field as the BAnks name i.e.  SUNCORP BSB 484799

Also, naturally I prefer bank deposit, it does save fees, but most buyers are resistant - if they wait for an invoice I write out the details of my bank account in the message part of the email, not pushing it, but offering.
