21/11 sold a shirt - at a reduced buy it now (bargain) - after direct contact from buyer for the lower offer - however since then no contact no response no paymetn - have sent a reminder invoice and a friendly wake up email - now wishing to go to non payment dispute - however it doesnt seem to exist any more (does it) - and it looks like buyers have a free hand to change their minds?

I think auctions are pretty overrated these days. Sellers don't really get the prices they used to in the past.
Maybe for you. For me, auctions are definitely not overrated. My items do very well at auction thank you very much. I know you love to push your agenda of buy it now with immediate payment, but for some categories, like mine, items sell much better at auction. It's not a one size fits all and I thought given the amount of time you've been selling, you'd know that. I also have BIN items, and they just keep relisting month after month. Similar items listed as auction sell on the first listing.
I have had countless items with a start bid of $19.99 and sold for well over $300. I would have been happy with the $19.99. If people want to give me insane amounts of money for my items, I'm more than happy to let them.
Can I give up my day job? No. Have I underpriced my start prices? No, I haven't, because I know what my items are worth. However, there are plenty of people who are willing to pay big bucks for THAT item, because they really, really want it. I have done the same. Paid more than what I knew it was worth, because I really wanted it. Not to resell, I just really wanted it (that said, there was a limit on how much I'd spend!).
