Hi all,
Just wondering if e-cheques are as safe as regular payments through PayPal as regards to chargebacks etc...? It's a long time since I had an e-cheque. Is it as safe, or are there extra safeguards to consider to protect oneselve's?

I've always had both Visa card and bank account attached to my PayPal. Before I started selling and having funds in my PayPal account, majority of my purchases came from my bank account. It was always immediate. Then something changed and doing that now spawns an eCheque. I have no idea why.

I have a Visa debit card on my bank account and both are attached to paypal.
I also have a Mastercard credit card attached to paypal.
For the most part I use the debit card and it is immediate. Every so often, paypal in their wisdom will make it an echeque and the seller has to wait.
I had been buying a number of items from a UK seller and he had been posting within hours of my payments....suddenly he started holding the parcels for 2-3 days so I asked why. That was when I found out that paypal was playing games and sending echeques when I was using the debit card. Even so, the Mastercard should have made it immediate, even if I did make a mistake and use the bank account.

Your missing message turned up! Normally they only lag if you've put a link to something relating to Aust Post. Fingers crossed for you! Hopefully eBay will see some sense and realise you are not the cause of everything bad in the world.
