From a sellers perspective, I'm hoping that they don't run promotions such as today's 15% off everything for everyone every Sunday.
Will this mean that sales will grind to a halt all week and then go off like a frog ion a sock on Sundays?
Does anyone know exactly what they mean by eBay big SUNDAYS (plural - so more than this Sunday)
Swings and roundabouts I know, but I like having sales all week, though the benefits in promotions such as these are that everyone at least pays on the day and all together, so sales aren't coming ion dribs and drabs tieing us to the site every day... but...
And seeing as in this instance at least, even those with products under $50 can still benefit as it is the total spend in the one transaction that is counted - so if someone buys 10 x $5 items, it seems they still qualify, don't they? (clarification on this required though, please) But if this applies to everyone, then won't everyones sales be primarily on a Sunday?

I'm sorry to hear that Harley.
That is a downside too, eh?
I was going toi say, I bet sales return to normal tomorrow for you, but I guess if people have already spent their money, we might have to wait till they get paid again, eh?
I'm thinking that may happen to me as well, quiet now through the week as everyone has spent their money.
But I did preempt it a bit and made sure I have some auctions finishing in the next few days, so fingers crossed.....
Good Score, Budgie!
That was me too - bought stuff I was thinking about "one day, maybe"

I see what you are saying. I guess it will depend on whether the increase in sales was significant enough, to have eBay feel it is worth doing on a regular basis. If sales tank the rest of the week on an announcement of a discount Sunday, they might then stop doing it.
so who knows? They will have to assess the sales figures not just in isolation but for the week leading up to today and the one after. Won't affect my spending because it was purely a bonus sale for eBay.
hope it was overall a good thing for sellers after the past few months of uncertainty.

They may have just done it to compete with the B&M end of year sales too
who knows.
But at least eBay have given us some of our fees back in a round about way, they have injected a few million dollars back to us either as buyers or sellers.
as a buyer, I saved a heap, and as sellers, I'd say a few of us have made sales we may not have otherwise
and even if people were going to buy that stuff anyway, it now means they have an extra 15% to spend with me or another seller later on.

Yeah for us it has been a fizzer too.
We don't have any items over $50.
So to qualify on buying our items a buyer would have to order more than about 5 and then pay in a single transaction.
Neither of those are luxuries we often see.
So has mdde ZIP difference to us today.

Next month may just start listing on Sundays for 7 days in case this reoccurs then buyers can take advantage of the discount if it happens again.
