ebay done themselves out of sales...?

its all getting dreadfully boring here, when it should be one of the busiest times of year for sellers...

I know some of you might advise me to open a store, but I see many closing theirs down as they are not getting the sales.

clearly the advantage of most stores is you get unlimited or a lot more listings that the non store.

I;m sticking to my 40 "free" listings on both my ids, and yes that has impacted my sales some, but has forced me to sell via FB groups which I has averaged out to roughly a sale a day with no fees.

sad really having been here since 2005.  of course if Evilbay were to throw me freebies... I remember last christmas it was finishing up xmas eve.. - so when they were likely to get little people paying to list... I would not turn them down.

I think it must all be about those big corporations again.  last time I saw a thread on this I heard the ebay share price was still doing ok but I do wonder...

Re: ebay done themselves out of sales...?

Well today I got my B'Day gift from Ebay. $10 off voucher (mimimum spend $30) - Down significantly from the $50 voucher I got last year with no conditions except to pay by PPal.

I tried your way Lyndal & it didn't work in my instance - must be from 1 seller only - not inc postage. There's nothing I really want or need; So I'll try again with the cart for Xmas gifts.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth is my ongoing motto! (This from a woman whose hubby bought her an Arab stallion as a Wedding gift! - the best gift I've ever recieved!) Within a few days I had the horse broken in to saddle & in hindsight should have galloped off into the sunset.

Re: ebay done themselves out of sales...?

That's exactly it, I always seem to be getting QLD and WA buyers for some reason... when I actually get a sale in the first place.

As for invitation-only vouchers and freebies, count me out as eBay refuses to let me use my email address I've had since the early 2000s, all because it has the same eleven characters as my eBay name I've had since 2003! Apparently if your name is John Citizen, according to eBay you aren't allowed to have your eBay username as johncitizen1234 and your email as johncitizen1234, so change the one you've had for much longer to satisfy eBay's much more recent (2010s) requirements. If I'm ever locked out of my account and am required to use my email that inexplicably vanished some months ago to reactivate it, I'm coming back as a 0 feedback restricted newbie without a hope of getting what little sales I made even with a seasoned account. You shouldn't have to create a new eBay-only email at Google, Microsoft or the like just to keep eBay happy.

Change your ID? It only needs to be one character different to the email address.
