If I try to sign in it doesn't do anything, like I put in the wrong password. Then on other occasions it will have me signed in.
An incredibly annoying thing to happen.
It refuses to let me do any changes to my listings, when I try, it signs me out
Then when I type ebay.com.au into the address bar, it has me as signed in.
Any advice to this enormously fustrating problem.

Same thing happened to me also today, but working okay now. I came back couple hours later, if you still have trouble change to another browser.
Firefox is bad for this.

Sign in has been dodgy lately (I usually have to sign in twice most times).
Make sure your flash plugin is up to date as sign in requires it as do most pages.
Possibly you could also have a look at your java version while you're about it.
I don't know what browser you are using so can't be more helpful.
Just google "check java version" and also "adobe flash player" but make sure you are dealing with java.com (sun microsystems) and adobe.com (flash player).

What does java have to do with signing in?
I don't have java or flash on my computer and I'm able to sign in.

I do have flash on my computer, but it's about 10 versions out of date because it won't update. If a page wants to use it, it gives me a warning at the top of the page that it's outdated, then I have the option of updating, or letting the page use the outdated version. I opt for the outdated version and have no problems.
Usually when login issues occur (like a login loop), clearing out cache and cookies generally fixes it. Firefox is bad for login loops.

The only time I get log in loops, especially when editing a listing, is if I use IE, not something I do very often. I find Chrome and Opera work best for ebay
