I am a long time ebay user (1998) as both a seller and buyer and have maintained a 100% feedback rating over some 3068 listed feedbacks from buyers and sellers Worldwide. During COVID-19 in Australia over the past 2 years we have experienced numerous long periods of lockdowns and very unreliable domestic and international shipping which have made me hesitant to sell and buy on ebay. Now that the COVID restrictions are lifting I recently sold an item and immediately shipped it to the buyer with tracking details provided. However, ebay have now informed me that largely due to being an infrequent seller they were holding payment to me until the item was delivered and the buyer was fully satisfied! This is totally unfair for I've acted in good faith, have an excellent ebay history and this action is an insult to my integrity. I have complained to Customer Service requesting that this decision be reversed and the funds be released to no avail! Unless ebay change this policy I am strongly considering closed my account. Maybe there is an ulterior motive involved here where ebay can further profit from the funds being withheld??? This is quite unethical and totally unfair to ebay sellers!!!

Same rules for all sellers
And since you have been a seller since 1998 you should be aware of such basic policies
eBay consider a seller to be a 'new' seller when they have not sold in some time
This has been the case for many many years and is no hidden secret news
If I were to go back to selling today, I would have the same policy applied to me
(and yes. I do have a selling account, over 16 years old with almost 2000 feedback on it)
How much you sold two years ago and before that is 100% meaningless now as far as money on hold go
No, eBay do not earn interest on money held (regardless of what a forum troll says his 'friend' told him)
No doubt eBay CS told you part of the actual reason for this is due to scammers hijacking dormant accounts and ripping off buyers while the 'real' owner of the account gets a nasty surprise with owing fees for the scammer's sales?
eBay and not going to change the policy that has been in place for years to give anyone special treatment, so best end your listings and close your account asap

It pays to keep up with policies.
I have posted this link 3 times so far, in the last days,
And - so much angst for $20 less fees

Your length of time and feedback rating is irrelevant on this platform.
Please see the guidelines for infrequent sellers. There is a reason for this withholding.
There are about a dozen of these threads currently circulating on the boards - have a read of them as they will provide further answers.
I have a second account which I only started using after more than 10 years. I'm having sales there, but funds will be on hold for several weeks as items are still being delivered and Ebay also wants to ensure that there are no follow up disputes. I already knew that this would happen, so I'm not that fussed.

There is zero reason to withhold funds once the item has been delivered and the buyer is satisfied and yet this is exactly the case.
Once the evidence shows I am a legitimate seller, I should receive the funds.
At least give a percentage of the funding so that the items postage can be paid for and sent in a timely manner.
After contacting my customers on eBay to inform them of the delay as a result of eBay withholding funds, I have since had 3 sales cancelled as a result.
eBay will offer no compensation.
The evidence is clear and should be acted upon. I feel I am being treated as a criminal for no justifiable reason.

Seriously? Are you implying that you can't/won't send items until you have the cleared payment in your hand? That's what it looks like. You are joking, right? That's a disgusting thing to do, and it will cause you no end of trouble.
You need to honour your sales, and ship within your advertised handling time. As an example, if that's 3 days, then you need to ship inside the three day window. When you get access to the funds is totally irrelevant to your handling time. They are two completely different things.
If I were to apply your logic to my situation, I would only post on Tuesdays - because that's when the eBay payment hits my account. That wouldn't do too much for my delivery speed (1 business day handling), now would it??
