first neg feedback unfair

ok, woke up to my first negative feedback.

this fellow bought a second hand toy car from me and recieved it just fine.

i know because he sent me a message with photos of the car saying it had a repaired part on it, which it did, i never said the car was new.

it was restored and sold 'as is'

so in retaliation hes given me negative feedback with the message the item was sent to the wrong address!

it was sent to the address he has registered and tracking proves it was delivered on time.

sold on the 11.5.19 delivered 20.5.19

where should i go now?

I have an old Telecom Gondola Phone from the 80s which according to someone I mentioned it to, thought it might be worth a few dollars.  I just keep it because I like the design (mine is brown) and it's a reminder of a frustrating encounter with Telstra and their dreadful service.  I can't imagine why anyone else would want it as it is pre digital, let alone pre wifi.

And that reminds me......it's not just old addresses that reappear on eBay.  So do old phone numbers.  Last year a seller included my phone number on the post label....only it was my old work number.  I had changed that on all my documentation (eBay PayPal etc) ages ago....before I retired in fact.  Sure enough when I checked, the number was back.  Had to change it again of course.  Weird.

the orginal neg was for the item sent to the wrong adress

however the guy actually had a complaint that would fall under 'item not as described'

why he chose wrong adress is unknown as it made having the neg removed easy as the tracking shows it was delivered to the right adress in 5 days.

had he of gone with 'not as described' i would have replied 'just return it and get a full refund, as long as its not damaged'

even though it was sold 'as is' and its really the buyers responsiblility to look carefully at photos and ask questions.

this buyer was only ever asking for reductions on price, never asked anything about condition of the car.

he got about $130 off the price i was asking, pretty decent discount IMO

Re: first neg feedback unfair

I reckon given that you had it listed so cheap, he was buying to resell. Getting a further discount through a partial refund, would maximise his profits. I could be wrong, but if you watch his account, you may find it pop up there in a few months time.

I daresay that if you had of changed your address in the last few years that more than the phone number would have been "back" .. according to my experience this recurring problem has been going on for at least 2 years and in fact one of my accounts defaulted back to a deleted address a few weeks back .. 100% certain ..

And yes I do agree it is weird .. but spare a thought for what is going on at ebay HQ that would allow a problem like this to persist for 2 years plus ..

And before the mod jumps all over me again (no doubt due to rampant button pushing going on behind the scenes) my post here is directly related to this topic as the opening post refers to a buyer raising an "item not received dispute" but was apparently mysteriously able to recover the supposedly misdirected item (sent as a parcel with tracking) which leads me to suspect a part of the Opening Poster's problem is due to a long running ebay glitch where old deleted addresses are over-writing people's correct and current address details ..

Re: first neg feedback unfair

I haven't had issues of old addresses reappearing (we've lived in the same house for 20 years), but I have had issues of the system changing the default address. Not for a few years though. We would often get stuff sent to Mr Tippy's old work, as the postie insists on safe dropping parcels here, even though it's not safe.

Mr Tippy had 5 months off work due to illness, so we started to get parcels sent to our home address again. I had reset the home address as the default address. Yet, every few purchases, the default address would change back to the work address. In the end, I had to remove the work address. It was the only way to stop it.

Knowing how glitchy eBay can be, it's entirely possible that this could still be happening for people that have more than one address in the system. Especially if they haven't removed an old address.

Re: first neg feedback unfair

It's the same with PayPal but not address issues but account issues lol.

Try and close all of the old accounts meaning bank accounts with them and they keep saying there are payments pending and the account can't be closed.

But mind you those accounts haven't been used for over 2 years and there are no payments pending with them lol.

So have got about 8 accounts that I can't close still listed on my PayPal account go figure.

They're idiots in my books.

"it's not just old addresses that reappear on eBay.  So do old phone numbers."

May I ask zanadoo_56  if the problem was with this account you are posting from which looks like a buying only account exclusively or was it an account where you list and sell also?

that sounds like good advise but I am not confident that will stop the problem 100% .. I am fairly sure (90%) I deleted my old address and it still defaults back to it intermittently .. anyway a few weeks back I bought some satchels from auspost and they were delivered successfully .. a few days later the address had changed .. so is fairly recent .. I now double check every single time immediately before I confirm final payment as the "send to" address is included there in the payment console when you are confirming to send payment ..

May I ask was the problem on a buying only account or was it an account you also sell from tippy? ..

Re: first neg feedback unfair

I buy and sell on all my accounts, although haven't bought anything for ages (as is evident by eBay throwing vouchers at me!). They are all linked to the one PayPal account though. I was having the issue on the PayPal payment page, where you can store multiple addressed.

Work time for me now *sigh*. I hate working weekends ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: first neg feedback unfair

This morning I got a negative too.  Long time in ages.  Buyer said my item did not fit, but never contacted me or started a return ?

Digging deeper I discovered the buyer has left 77 negative, 8 neutral and only 15 positive feedbacks in his last 100 purchases !

Customer Service removed his feedback as the buyer obviously has a problem and I reported him for his litigious comments and told them he should be banned from eBay.
