Please be aware of a buyer named "<REMOVED>" in Singapore, he sent an email to us via ebay asking for a quote on a number of our items. Once he was sent the quote of over $4800 he supplied credit card details and asked we use a shipping company "ANCHOR STAR" for transport. We tried the credit card and it wouldn't go through, he then supplied another card which we transacted half of the payment but alarm bell went off and we reversed the payment.  We then asked him to pay via paypal, he said he didn't have a paypal account and to pay the shipping company Anchor Star with the monies first transacted. When we told him it was reversed and he'd have to pay directly into our account we never heard another thing.

After googling this name it has come up on Scam watch and other websites...beware, only use pay pal with overseas transactions or any for that matter, safest way to have a happy experience on ebay as a seller and a buyer.

The first clue he was a scammer was that they gave you all the credit card details (this screams stolen cards to me).

Second clue he then asked you to onsend part of the money to a third party (laundering stolen money).

Yes be aware they can sound extremely legit...mostly wanted to go on here to ensure other sellers don't get taken in when you feel secure on a reputable website...everybody's in the same boat, trying to make a quid so the excitement of a sale can sometimes over ride the caution one should take with all sales and purchases.

Even when using Paypal there is still no guarantee that the credit card being used to fund the payment is not stolen or otherwise compromised. However, should that ever happen to be the case it will be Paypal who bears the loss (if any) and not the seller.
