Thetrick with them is to send them an email telling them you are so sorry their account has been hacked and as it appears they have not already done so you are going to report their account as compromised for them so ebay will shut it down and contact them to get the account back under their control.
I have only done it twice myself and both times it resulted in an almost instant reply that they had mixed me up with another seller and of course they purchased from me and have paid before replying!
Might wash with a newbie, but if sent to a seasoned eBayer may result in some defect action.
Using non-payment as an excuse to spin lies to buyers demonstrates some questionable selling ethics IMO, even in the case of non payers who I have no patience for.
Such ever changing double standards .... lol.

If they are from Qld, please remeber that some towns and Rockhamption city don't have power.
In 2013 , we had no phone, including mobile , power and the road flooded north , south washed out for over 6 days ,I could not even use the internet , to let my buyers know there would be a delay, or take my items off. Don't know why I stressed about it, but i did, and all were understanding when back on line.
Even with using the genarator to keep the fridge going. please keep this in mind.
I know there are a lot of non payers, but if you had a website, it would be the same.

Yes but at least with a website if the buyer does not pay so be it, no stress you just move on, not like on Ebay you have to worry about copping defects if you cancel a transaction just to get back your fees on the sale, they should not take any fees until the buyer has paid then we would not need to go through this carp !!!!

I was surprised that the morning after the NT cyclone I had a buyer from the town that had the direct hit. I figured their power would be out, but he managed to buy and then pay. I guess it's possible he's got a satellite phone.

One way of avoiding payment problems for fixed price listing is to change your payment policy to require immediate payment on purchase. You need to only get payment only through Paypal and you do lose flexibility on bulk postage and discounts, but it does elimibate non payment problems.
We use this setting on all items.
Personally I think payment on purchase of fixed price items or within 24 hours of auctions should be mandatory anyway after all you dont buy from other shops without paying (unless they do layby).

11 in the past week and a half for me... Its usually atleast one or two a week I get. I don't care too much about it though. I send them an invoice, if its not paid for in 5 days I cancel the transaction and move on.
Please, for the benefit of other sellers, open and close a non payer dispute when they don't pay. Don't cancel. We all have blocks in place to prevent non payers from buying from us and if other sellers don't give them a strike when they don't pay, they can get through our blocks.

What a load of garbage. What lies have you identified in PJ's post? They would have to pay to defect anyway.

lol. I have had basically the same number as I had last year in the time until now. If I had the time to make up lies I would, I send a reminder and then open a dispute. Do unto others I say, I am sure you will find an ethics (or other) theory to fit with that.
