how do i get refunded for all the excess postages i have been billed for from ebay i sent refunds on

i always combine postage but never get a credit from ebay for the refund i send, how do i get this money back from the past few months? i am moving away from ebay now and want to finalise my dealings, ebay have taken more than their share so it is time go head to the facebook pages. these days i only use ebay as a selling point and buy from facebook as this is where the good collectable items are.

you need to contact ebay with item numbers that need repayment of fees....this is 'timed out '....tread carefully, I do it as soon as an item gets a 'defect'.

As far as I can recall,  If you combine postage or give any other form of  discount after the items have been paid for,  then that is purely a matter of goodwill between yourself and the purchaser   and the original transaction fees as charged by ebay on the total invoices are still applicable.

Wait a minute...does this mean ebay charges fees on postage even if you don't actually end up using all the postage costs?

So, say a buyer wants to buy 8 clothing items from you. Each has the standard small pepaid satchel cost of say, $9.20. 8 x $9.20 = $73.60.

Say those 8 items are fairly small and can fit in just one small prepaid satchel, would ebay still charge me fees on $73.60 instead of $9.20? Wow. I had no idea. I thought once I send an invoice for combined postage, whatever that adjusted total is, is what ebay base their fees on.

You are correct. IF you are in the minority that can send invoices with reduced postage.

I can't, because I have volume discounts on my entire inventory.

I  would have assumed the same thing.

That is just wrong on so many levels.

If a seller were to send all 8 items separately, and charge the buyer accordingly, the buyer would scream bluddy murder [I would if I saw my order could have been combined] yet it is of no benefit to the seller, it is infact detrimental to them?

How does the seller win?

By refunding less the non-recoverable costs.

Which is what I do. The buyer always has the option of contacting me pre-purchase, if the cart doesn't show a postage reduction. Smart ones do, and I do a deal that reflects the volume discount and the actual postage. Lazy buyers cop the difference.

Okay, so there is a way to recoup your fvf postage costs, just some sellers aren't doing it ? or aren't aware of it ?

I know it's none of my business, Smiley Happy  but I am just feeling real sorry for sellers right now, a lot don't seem to know if they are coming or going.

Yes, that's correct.  If you send an invoice with combined postage you are only charged fees on the postage charged on that invoice.

However, if the buyer pays without requesting an invoice, and you post the items in one satchel, then give them a refund of the extra postage they have already paid, you pay the FVF on the postage they have paid, even if you have refunded most of it.

To summarise, you pay the FVF on whatever postage the buyer actually pays.
