But what I can't understand is why any seller would want to remove paypal as an option. I realise that under the current set up, they can't. But what I don't understand is why they would want to in the first place. That was the main point I was trying to make.
A lot of buyers love paypal. Personally, I look for it on all buying sites, not just ebay.
Exactly - as a seller I don't care by whatever means the buyer paid ebay, when the funds are in my account. As a buyer I use Paypal wherever possible - not only does it mean less 3rd parties knowing my credit card details but there is more protection with Paypal. Given how many reputable Australian businesses have Paypal as an option, it would seem they have no qualms receiving money that way.
Of course if a person were selling outside ebay and a buyer wanted a paypal invoice, the seller in that instance may not want to pay paypal their very small fee....

I bought a pizza online last night for home delivery. I used PayPal. The time before, I used PayPal. In fact, for the last however many years, I've used PayPal. I don't buy pizzas that often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year, but I like the convenience when I do decide to order one.

I ONLY use PayPal when paying for anything online.
I really donโt know why anyone would want to remove it an an available options for paying but I guess it might be the 180 day buyer protection. ๐

I think talk of how the seller needs to sign up for managed payments etc is probably on the wrong track.
Carmel has sold well over a dozen things, going back over the last year. I would assume she is already signed up for managed payments or the question well before now would have been (like several who have come on the board in the past) -where is my money?
Overall, she has sold over 300 items so we're not talking about a total newbie on ebay.
My take on it is the seller probably signed up for MP ages ago, but ebay insert several payment methods into ads and carmel was asking if she could tweak it to remove the paypal option.
Unless she comes back to clear things up, we may never know exactly why she wants to do that.
The only thing that comes to mind is that with eg pick up items, some sellers would probably love to nominate only cash on pick up but of course with ebay, that isn't possible & just eliminating paypal from the list wouldn't achieve it in any case.
