Payment methods help page

โWhen you create a listing, we'll automatically add credit card, debit card, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal as payment options at checkout. Additionally, you can offer other payment methods in some categories.โž

In other words, sellers canโ€™t refuse to accept PayPal as the policy stands.

You no longer get paid through Paypal, but buyers can use it.

As a seller, your payments go straight to your nominated bank account, minus fees.

As an infrequent seller, have you signed up and been verified for Managed Payments?

If not, your money has nowhere to go and you won't receive it.

OMG that was my exact reaction too.

Carmel, I've heard that ebay may eventually remove the paypal option & I do realise that as a seller, you pay paypal fees, but I'll tell you this much, lots of buyers love paypal.

At the moment, it would be enough to stop me buying from you or any others if they don't have paypal.

Sellers don't pay Paypal fees anymore, Springy.

Not since Managed Payments were introduced.

As stawka said, we dont pay paypal fee's.   But at the end of the day, I don't care how they pay, I just want their money.   And in reality I never get to see what payment method they use.   Thats all under the covers at the Ebay end, I just get the $'s..

I did know from friends that a seller can't actually see a buyer's method of payment but I hadn't realised the seller didn't pay fees on paypal any more.

That makes it all the more puzzling why any seller would remove a valid method of payment. You'd think the more options you gave a buyer, the better.

I realise you are no longer a seller, so you might not know the current situation. All the more reason to only speak from current knowledge.

Sellers CAN'T nominate payment methods through Managed Payments. Paypal IS NOT a valid payment method for sellers. They get paid to their nominated bank account. Period.

Managed Payments is it. If a seller has Paypal as a payment method, that seller will never get their money. Because they haven't signed up to Managed Payments

I do understand that sellers have to be signed up to managed payments and ebay pays into their nominated account. That sellers don't even get to see how the buyer paid but if not signed up to managed payments, they won't see their money.

I also understand that ebay is adding the payment methods (in most cases.  From what countess said, sellers can in some categories, add on extra payment types).

But what I can't understand is why any seller would want to remove paypal as an option.  I realise that under the current set up, they can't. But what I don't understand is why they would want to in the first place. That was the main point I was trying to make.

A lot of buyers love paypal. Personally, I look for it on all buying sites, not just ebay.
