incorrect email on selling screen

hi,

on the selling screen i am seeing an old paypal gmail address of mine in the brackets after payment methods.

it is actually a gmail alias for my current paypal email address.

i contacted ebay and they said unlink your paypal account which i have tried twice to no avail.

i contacted paypal and they said my new email is correctly registered with them. they said contact ebay.

i went ahead with the sale but now i am worried that it is only an alias email. why does it persistently not update this address?

Sounds like a Scam - So long as the correct email is showing as per your pic I would leave it alone for now and wait until a more experienced member can respond to you.

You can edit the PayPal email address where payment will go before confirming the listing - the second one isn't related, that's why they don't match.

That is, the first one is the email address entered in the listing as the address payments from buyers will go to when you sell something. The second one is the email address for the PayPal account that is linked with eBay for payments from you to eBay. 

If you still have access to the alias address and it's still connected to your PayPal account, it won't matter much (you can have multiple email addresses within a single email account, and they will all work to receive money as long as they are verified and on file). 

If you don't have access to that email address, then you either need to edit the email address within a listing because they will just pre-fill whatever last address was used when you last listed something (unless you are using business policies, in which case you have to edit the business policy instead.
