Is there any way I can get rid of this rediculous zoom feature that fades the listing photo when I choose to look at a listing, Its very annoying. Or is it another case of ebay just looking for ways to change things for the sake of it.

No you can not get rid of it as it is an option the seller puts there when they do the listing.

But if you open the listing the zoom over is not there and you can enlarge the picture when that option is there.

The square that hovers over and fades the photo in listings for the zoom feature should only appear when you mouse-over the image - is it there constantly by default? If so, I can only suggest the more basic options to try (eg clearing cookies / cache, trying a different browser etc).
