If the information provided is correct, how does it matter who provides it?

Joe - why don't you ring eBay? You are on record as stating call centre operators reading from a prepared list are more knowledgable than a seller with real-life experience.

I combine all the time. Even when the items are paid separately. And have no problem adding a tracking number to all items. And haven't received any complaints. And the buyer is likely to be a NPB if your 'friend' insists on sending each item separately, thus charging the buyer more than double what the postage should be.

As said - photograph the items and all the stages. Weigh them individually and packed And take photos. Get the Post Office to certify that weight when you lodge the parcel.

That way you your 'friend' has absolute proof of what was sent.

good point with weight dave  ,but do they weigh satchells ,

its not about getting complaints  , in fact its the buyer who asked , but only wanted to know , if every item in that parcel counted for tracking if there was a problem .

Take photos of items you packed and the parcel you sent, weigt them to keep as evidence I think Paypal will cover you if you have evidence....

If item is missing the wiegh would be different....

At the end of the day its, a risk i have sent 2 registered post, the dam post did not scan bothe of them on the same day and one of them claimed never receive it and I have to cop that .....

The Post refused to compansate because they said I sent it in the normal latter, the item is so small and thin...

Any dispute with buyer you will suffer, the design by Ebay..... It's a pain selling on Ebay

betty, this is not true, I have buyers all the time buy multiple items, pay them separate and I CAN add same tracking id's to many items purchased by the same person. Selling for over 10 years so I have a small amount of knowledge on this.

You're welcome. Infact, thinking about it, I might even add a note to future listings to the effect:

"If you intend to bid on or purchase more than one of my sale items and would like to take advantage of a combined postage discount, please let me know that you will be delaying payment until you have finished buying from me. If you pay for your items separately they will be recognised as separate transactions by ebay and will have to be treated by me as such (ie, sent separately) in order that they are all covered by a tracking number."

Well obviously I am just going on what I am told by ebay reps (via email) and we all know that this is not altogether reliable.

However, I personally was unable to add the duplicate tracking number to the second of the two items I sold recently when I sent both items in the same package.

Go figure ??!!

As I said a few minutes ago Betty boo, this is SO NOT TRUE.

You can add the same tracking number to many items a buyer has purchased separate. I do it all the time.

Don't know where you go this information from but its incorrect. You pay for the first transaction with a tracking number and then you manually add to any other items the buyer has sold. Easy.

. . . . .  You can add the same tracking number to many items a buyer has purchased separate. I do it all the time . . . . . . .

And even if you issue a combined post invoice you still need to add the Tracking number to each individual item - well at least I do and have never had a problem  Smiley Happy

Yeah I get that you have been able to add the same tracking number to 2 or more items. I haven't.

You say you don't know where I got the information from. . . as I said before, from "ebay reps (via email)", and that what you get from them is not always reliable.

By the way, I am also not a 'newbie' to ebay. Been selling for nearly 8 years, albeit on a fairly small scale.
