Gosh - feel for you OP

It is just does not seem fair that a newbie ID can purchase and leave three consecutive negatives for all fo the purchases they have made.  Its not good for business for anyone.

I think I would attempt to give them a call and see if you can very, very politely try and work out a resolution regarding their item - and without saying as much, get a sense if they are actually a reasonable person that is genuinely new and genuinely disappointed in goods, and doesn't have a sense that these things can be sorted, before feedback is left.

IMO you kinda have nothing to lose now they have left their mark.

You could try having the negative removed on the grounds that it is not damage at all, just normal marks from the manufacturing of the vases.....AND the buyer admits he can see it in the pictures.  If it was a problem he should have asked about it before buying.

It is called a pontil mark...I would send the buyer and ebay this link... In fact the mark in many instances adds value to the piece

because it is not slip moulded or mould blown and therefore more likely mass produced

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontil_mark

A Pontil mark or punt mark is the scar where the pontil, punty or punt was broken from a work of blown glass.

The presence of such a scar indicates that a glass bottle or bowl was blown freehand, while the absence of a punt mark

suggests either that the mark has been obliterated or that the work was mold-blown.[1]

Some glassblowers grind a hollow into the base of their work, obliterating the natural punt scar. Where the base of the work is sufficiently heavy, the entire natural base can be sawed or ground flat.

Where the base of the work is concave, after the punt has been broken from the work, the punt may be used to attach a small gather of hot glass over the punt scar, into which a maker's mark is impressed.

As commonly used term in the collectibles and antiques industry, the term refers to the mark impressed on a blown glass item over this scar, since many notable glassblowers have impressed or engraved makers marks in the punt scars of their work.[2][3]

In the case of mold-blown work, where no pontil is used during manufacture, the term has also come to apply to marks impressed in the base of the work where the pontil scar would have been had it been free blown.

Good grief, why is this buyer still using ebay, you have to wonder! All those 'bad' experiences would turn a newbie off, you would think.

I can't see why a red dot would affect the use of a vase anyway, especially as it was on the bottom.

Maybe send them that link someone else mentioned about how it adds value.

But I am surprised they didn't mention it to you before rushing to leave feedback, bit unreasonable really.

I just had a look at her feedback and how odd-she said the damage is noticeable in the picture. Why on earth bid then, or at least why not ask a question first?

I thought you answered her well.Smiley Happy

In all her feedback given, it is obvious she never contacts anyone first. loved one reply by a seller-you need to learn to email me.LOL

I would fight with an eBay rep to remove this neg and explain to them to read the messages, there are photos of item and explain the process of making the vase. Also alert them to the fact the buyer has only ever left negative feedback. If the first rep doesn't do it, keep ringing until you get someone who will listen to you

This buyer is either very inexperienced in buying or is down right crazy and needs to get off purchasing through ebay. I too would contact Ebay and attempt to have the neg FB removed and highlight their pattern of behaviour of giving neg FB to other sellers.  Good luck.
